A homeowner in Mississauga had recently purchased a 170-year-old home. He and his wife were moved in and ready to entertain guests, but there was one problem. They had a stinky sump pump. Their entertainment room was in their basement, but guests were hesitant to go downstairs due to the smell. Frustrated, the customer reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
The couple had Clarke Basement Systems install a sump pump at their previous home and were looking for the same solution. System Design Specialist Alex Barnik met with the customer and explained the different types of sump pumps. After deciding on a SuperSump® pump and an IceGuard® Discharge System, Foreman Lucio Flores worked hard installing the new products. The couple is extremely satisfied with the new sump pump, and they can now entertain in a smell-free basement.
Living away from family can be tough. Our lives can take us to different places across the world, and we may not end up seeing each other too often. It can be worrying, but it’s nice knowing that they’re doing well.
An elderly couple in Toronto lives in a 100-year-old home with a dirt floor crawl space. Their son lives abroad, but he was concerned for their health. The dirt floor was allowing moisture to seep into the crawl space, and the air quality was only getting worse. The musty smell was present throughout the entire house, so the son reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a solution.
System Design Specialist Ron Monk met with the couple and inspected their home. He showed them some of their options, and they decided on a system to keep their crawl space dry and prevent odours from spreading.
Foreman Lucio Flores and Installation Specialist Dymytro Bohatyrov first laid down CleanSpace® Drainage Matting across the entire crawl space floor. Drainage Matting allows any moisture that comes up from the ground to seep back into the groundwater. Once the matting was installed, the entire crawl space was encapsulated with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. CleanSpace® keeps the dirt floor, and foundation walls contained, preventing any odours or water from entering the crawl space, and subsequently, the rest of the home.
Both the son and the parents are happy with the final product. The son can continue to live abroad without worrying about his parents, and the elderly couple can happily and safely continue to live in their home.
Window wells are a great addition to any basement. They can turn a storage room into a bedroom and bring some light into a typically dark space.
A customer in Toronto, Ontario, was having a full waterproofing system installed in their basement. At the same time, they decided to repair their leaking basement window. System Design Specialist Ron Monk designed their waterproofing system to include a WellDuct® Drain System, and Foreman Lucio Flores worked hard installing the drain.
The customer is happy that their basement is waterproofed, and that their window will no longer leak. Their finished basement is protected once again, and they no longer need to worry about water seepage.
Our homes are an investment. They cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and we spend thousands on upkeep each year.
Customers in Toronto, Ontario, were familiar with how much it can cost to upkeep a home. They had waterproofed their basement ten years ago, but the exterior system had started to fail. Looking to protect their finished basement, they reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Ron Monk designed a system to waterproof the basement for good and protect the customer’s investment. Foreman Lucio Flores, and Installation Specialists Dyma Bohatyrov and Ion Sirbu, worked hard installing a WaterGuard® Drain System, ThermalDry® Wall Membrane, a TripleSafe® Sump Pump and an UltraSump® Battery Backup.
The customers are delighted that their basement is waterproof once again. They can continue to use their basement the way they want too and do so with the peace of mind of a lifetime warranty.
Our customer in Etobicoke, Ontario, had an issue with the previously-built rear addition before they owned the home. Water had started seeping in through the walls and concrete floor which was damaging materials used to finish their basement and affecting personal items. They were concerned that mould might begin to grow behind the finished walls.
After our customer spoke with Claude Mathieu, System Design Specialist, they agreed on a waterproofing solution plan. They started by removing the entire concrete floor to release the water pressure underneath. Jose, Lucio, Ali, and the crew installed:
SuperSump® Sump Pump System
WaterGuard® Drainage System
ThermalDry® Wall Membrane
IceGuard® Drainage Pipe
A home in Toronto, Ontario, had a problem in the basement. Over the years there was groundwater leaking into the area. It was damaging the finished walls, floor, personal items. It was also causing odours, and the homeowner did not want it to affect the rest of the home. They were also unable to use the basement space.
The customer called Clarke Basement systems and spoke to Claude Mathieu, who explained the process. Lucio and the team came in and installed WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, Flangless WaterGuard®, ThermalDry® Wall Insulation and SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System. This system ensures that any groundwater penetrating through the basement foundation walls or building up below the basement floor is captured and pump away from the foundation. These products were used around the full perimeter of the basement and across the middle, below the concrete floor, to ensure no more basement leaks.
The homeowner can now refinish basement and use the space with no concerns of groundwater leaking in.
Keeping your house in good shape is vital for any homeowner, especially when it comes time to put your home on the market.
A customer in Pickering, Ontario, was looking to list their home soon but wanted to generate as much income as possible. He was dealing with a crack in his foundation wall, so he reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a solution.
The homeowner met with System Design Specialist Chris Luke and Chris showed him our FlexiSpan® Repair System. The customer was thrilled that the solution was cheaper than he imagined, and a date was set for the repair.
Foreman Lucio Flores injected our FlexiSpan® Sealant deep into the crack before sealing the outside. FlexiSpan® stops 95% of water, and any moisture that does seep through is directed down to an in-floor drain.
The customer can’t wait to get his home on the market now. He has a 25-year transferrable warranty for the work done and can get the most money possible from the sale of his house.
Where do you go when you’re looking for something you haven’t seen in years? Typically, it’s the basement storage room. These rooms are generally unfinished but make a great storage space.
A customer in Pickering, Ontario, noticed water was pooling on the floor of his storage room. His belongings were always getting wet, and he was concerned the leak would grow and create a more severe issue. He decided to deal with the problem sooner rather than later and reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the customer and inspected his basement. He found a crack in the poured concrete foundation and showed the customer our FlexiSpan® Repair System. The customer was happy to hear the repair was non-invasive and could be done in a day.
Foreman Lucio Flores started by digging a small hole in the floor for a dry well. Next, he sealed the crack by injecting it with a urethane-based sealant. A polyurethane foam strip was then applied on the wall over the first seal to complete the repair. If there is the slightest bit of moisture, the foam strip will drain it into the dry well.
The customer is surprised by how fast the team repaired the foundation crack. He’s very excited about using his completely dry basement and not worrying about unwanted water in his home again.
A home in Oshawa, Ontario had water leaking into the basement. There was water at floor wall joint as well as cracks on the foundation wall that had attempted to fix. The homeowners couldn't use their basement anymore due to mould and constant water making the area unhealthy.
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to fix their basement problems and make use of the space again. Steve Matthews, the inspector, explained what we would be doing to correct these water issues. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier, TripleSafe™ Complete Sump pump and an IceGuard® Discharge Line System. The CleanSpace® was installed on all the walls keeping the moisture and water away from the basement, dropping it all into the installed WaterGuard®. The WaterGuard® pushes all the water into the TripleSafe™. The sump pump pushes the water out through the IceGuard® away from the home. This leaves the customers confident in renovating their basement again and no worrying about water damage in the future.
What a difference! Now, our client can use their basement and crawl space for storage again, with no worries.
Unbelievable transformation by one of our System Design Specialists, Chris Luke, and Installation Foreman, Lucio Flores. They worked together to improve the musty, damp, dirty conditions by eliminating the condensation, and found a reliable solution for the dirt floor, rusty steel and rotted posts.
There’s a lot we put up with at our homes. Creaky floorboards, a tap that doesn’t work quite right, or a flickering porch light. These little things usually don’t cause enough of a problem to solicit a fix, and they add a quirky charm to a house. What we can’t put up with is a leak in the basement.
A customer in Whitby, Ontario, was having a water problem in his basement. He had a previously installed sump pump, but unfortunately, this new leak was in an entirely different area. Frustrated and tired of mopping up water, the customer reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Ben Wallis met with the customer at his home. Ben was able to put the customer’s worries at ease by offering a simple solution for his water seepage issue.
Foreman Lucio Flores started by removing damaged drywall in the basement before excavating a section of the perimeter. The excavated area is used to lay down our WaterGuard® Drain System, which catches water coming from the floor joint and walls. Jose installed ThermalDry® to encapsulate the walls and funnel any seeping water down to the drain before pouring new concrete over the drain. Lastly, an additional piece of WaterGuard® was installed to bring the water to the sump pump.
The customer is very satisfied that their water problem is permanently fixed. For extra peace of mind, the customer called us back two years later to install a SuperSump® Battery Backup, which keeps their basement dry even in a power outage. A happy customer!
A home in Markham, Ontario had a water leaking problem at the side wall. There was a crack, form ties and floor wall joint seepage in the poured concrete wall. They had a finished basement, but the floor was always wet so the homeowner and their grandkids could not use the space.
The customer had used Clarke Basement Systems previously for other work and knew we could help with the water issues. Chris Luke was the design specialist that helped come up with a solution and answered any questions the customer had. Lucio, the installation specialist and his team, came in and installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain around the perimeter of the leaking wall. ThermalDry® Wall Membrane was introduced to stop leakage and moisture on the walls and direct it to the drain. A SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System with IceGuard® Discharge Line was installed to avoid flooding and keep the lines durable during the cold seasons.
With a fully waterproofed basement, it can be put back together without having to worry about the wet floor, leaking form ties or cracks that leak. They have their space again and they feel confident to let their grandkids play in the area!
When you invest money into something, you want to ensure that it will last. Whether it’s your home, car or business, you don’t want to put money where it will be wasted.

System Design Specialist Ron Monk met with the customer and inspected her basement. He took her needs into account and designed a system to keep the basement dry.

The customer can’t wait to start her renovation. She’s thrilled that her basement is dry and is happy knowing her home is protected.
Finding the right balance between city and country is different for anyone. Some love to be right in the city, while others love to be far away from civilization.
A couple in Greenwood, Ontario, has a great balance of city-country, living just north of Pickering, Ontario. They have a beautiful home, but living in a more rural area has led to excessive groundwater and, in turn, water seepage. Their basement would flood whenever there was heavy rain or a thaw, so they reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
The homeowners met with System Design Specialist Chris Luke. Chris inspected the home and designed a system to keep the basement dry.
Foreman Lucio Flores and his crew worked hard installing our WaterGuard® Drain System around the basement's perimeter. It drains water to a brand new SuperSump® Pump. To control any water seeping through the walls, the entire space was encapsulated with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier.
The couple is delighted that their basement is finally dry. They can enjoy rural living without dealing with a constant threat from mother nature.

When you pay for a repair at your home, you expect that's the end of it. What you don't expect is to redo that same repair only a few months later.
A customer in Stouffville, Ontario, has lived in her home for many years. Recently, she noticed a crack in her basement's foundation. The crack was allowing water to seep into the basement and pool on the floor, so she called a contractor to seal it.
Only a few months later the crack was already leaking again. Frustrated, this time she decided to call in the pros and reached out to Clarke Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Dean Merendino met with the homeowner and inspected the basement.
Dean discovered that the crack was never sealed properly, and the lower portion was only partially sealed. Dean recommended our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair System, and the customer eagerly booked a date for the repair.
Foreman Lucio Flores started by properly sealing the crack with our flexible, polyurethane sealant. Our FlexiSpan® System also includes a secondary drain to ensure the basement stays 100% dry, with a lifetime warranty for added peace of mind.
The customer is thrilled that her basement is repaired. She wishes she had called us right away but feels great knowing her home is protected and dry.
Peace of mind is something we all strive for. Whether it’s something small, like keeping the driveway cleared of snow in the winter, or something significant such as preventing your basement from flooding, it’s nice to have one less thing to worry about.
A customer in Stouffville, Ontario, was worried about the water in his basement. He had an old, no longer functioning sump pump in his basement that was producing a foul odour. Every time it rained, he had to bail the sump pump out using buckets to prevent his basement from flooding.
Tired of worrying and being a human sump pump, he reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a solution. System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon went to the home to inspect the old sump pump and review the customer’s options for a replacement
The customer decided to go with our SuperSump® Sump Pump to keep his basement dry. Foreman Lucio Flores installed the SuperSump® in the original pit where the broken sump pump was initially located and poured concrete around the new sump pump, giving it a finished look.
The customer is elated about their new sump pump. He no longer has to worry about his basement flooding, and his days of getting filthy and wet draining his old sump are long gone!
Homeowners in Stouffville, ON, were having troubles with their original sump pumps efficiently ejecting water out of the home. Water would accumulate in the sumps and be constantly overworking themselves. It was time for an upgrade.
When the homeowners knew that the Sump Pumps needed to be replaced, they contacted Clarke Basement Systems for their free estimate.
System Design Specialist, Kayton Zarhoul inspected the basement and concluded that a Triple Safe™ Sump Pump would be needed in order to efficiently keep up with the homes water accumulation, and eject seeping water out and away from the home.
Now, the homeowners are thrilled that they won't have to worry about any future water damaging their home with our 25-year warranty.
Stress is something everyone deals with in life, but it’s important to do what we can to reduce it. For a customer in Stouffville, Ontario, the best way to do that was to replace their old, unreliable sump pump.
Their old double sump wasn’t working properly, and they were concerned for their basement. They were looking to renovate but wanted to ensure their basement would stay dry first.
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the customers to review our products before Foreman Lucio Flores installed their new TwinSump® Sump Pump. The TwinSump® normally pairs with a Battery Backup, but the homeowners already had a backup generator. Lucio also installed an IceGuard® Discharge System, preventing backups during the long winter freeze.
The customer is thrilled that they can finally renovate with no worries of flooding. They’ve gained peace of mind thanks to our trustworthy and warrantied waterproofing products!
A home in Port Perry, Ontario, had water seepage issues on the back wall, a crack on the front wall of the basement and because this was an older home, there also was seepage on the window well. During the heavy rain, the water would seep through the cracks in the concrete wall. The water seepage caused a wet floor, and the customer couldn’t use the basement space. They wanted to finish their basement and needed to know there would be no more water issues.
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to fully waterproof their basement. Chris Luke informed them of all the work that would be done and answered all their questions. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed ThermalDry® Wall Insulation against the concrete wall to direct all water seepage into the WaterGuard® Below-Foor Drain. They placed a new TripleSafe™ Complete Sump Pump System for three levels of protection and two IceGuard® Discharge Line System for protection from harsh weather. They installed a Well duct for window well drainage and put FlexiSpan® Crack Repair solution on the large crack to seal it. Now the basement can be renovated without wet floors, leaking window well and extra protection.
Clarke Basement Systems recommended to our customer in Stayner, ON that they have a full encapsulation and add a MositureLoc Dehumidifier with a SmartSump™Crawl Space Sump Pump System. The dehumidifier keeps the crawlspace dry and conditioned while the sump system collects the groundwater and pumps it outside. The crawl space is now clean, dry, and comfortable.
Old homes are beautiful. They have a charm about them that can’t be explained, and each stone and piece of wood tells a story. There is a uniqueness to them that can’t be replicated, but this comes with a price. As a home gets older, more problems tend to present themselves.
A family in Uxbridge, Ontario, has a home that’s been in the family for years. It was built in 1887 and has a stone foundation and dirt floor basement. In recent years the basement has felt damp, and a musty smell has travelled from the basement to the rest of the house. Concerned about mould damage and tired of the smell, the family reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the homeowner and inspected the home. Chris presented her with a solution, and a date was set up or the installation. Foreman Lucio Flores started by encapsulating the basement floor with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. CleanSpace® gives the space a clean look while isolating the dirt floor from the rest of the basement. Drainage Matting was also installed beneath the vapour barrier to help any moisture seep back into the ground.
To remove the musty smell, Lucio installed a SaniDry MoistureLOC® Dehumidifier. This will filter the air while also keeping the relative humidity below 50%. High humidity levels promote mould growth and can cause serious damage to the framework.
The customer is thrilled that her old home is dry, and her air is clean. She has protected her family’s century-old investment and no longer has to worry about moisture damage.
This Zephyr, ON basement, dealt with corner seepage. An excavation was not an option because of their flower gardens around the home. We installed WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain with a SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System to keep the basement floor dry from seepage.

System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with the customer and inspected her cottage. He designed a waterproofing system that included an Aprilaire® MoistureLoc Dehumidifier, which keeps the relative humidity below 55%. Foreman Lucio Flores installed the dehumidifier strategically in the crawl space, complimenting the rest of the waterproofing system.
The customer is delighted that she no longer needs to worry about damage to her cottage caused by moisture and mould, and the first thing she notices when she steps inside isn’t a musty smell.
Not many people enjoy doing laundry, but it’s something we all have to do. When something makes this annoying task even harder, it can be quite frustrating.
A customer in Peterborough, Ontario, was dealing with water seepage in their laundry room. They would soak their feet every time they used the space, leading to even more laundry to do. Ready for a change, they decided to reach out to Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the homeowner and inspected the basement. He showed the customer several spots where water was leaking, and a date was set for the repair.
Foreman Lucio Flores started the repair by encapsulating the laundry room with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane, stopping moisture from the walls and insulating the space. Our WaterGuard® Drain System was installed along the perimeter and connected to a SuperSump® Sump Pump. An IceGuard® Discharge Line was installed to prevent freezing, and a MoistureLoc® Dehumidifier was used to keep the relative humidity below 55%.
The customer is thrilled about the work done. He’s looking forward to staying dry while doing laundry and appreciates the service from Lucio and Chris.
This caving foundation wall in Lakefield, Ontario, was a significant concern for our customer. The primary worry was that the wall would cave in resulting in a costlier repair. To stabilize the wall our team installed CarbonArmor®, to secure the wall from any further movement. ThermalDry® Insulation was placed over the foundation of the walls to funnel any water or moisture collected into the WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain. WaterGuard® was installed below the floor to capture groundwater seepage and help with the hydrostatic pressure. Both of these systems direct the water collected into the SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System. By correctly assessing the issue our team was able to provide a permanent waterproofing solution for our customer.
