Lucio started off in our service and maintenance department but quickly moved up to achieve the foreman status. Lucio's work ethic is one to be reckoned with, always first on site and last to leave. When working with his install team, you will hear the motto "LEAVE IT CLEAN AND MAKE IT RIGHT."
Our customer in Etobicoke, Ontario, had an issue with the previously-built rear addition before they owned the home. Water had started seeping in through the walls and concrete floor which was damaging materials used to finish their basement and affecting personal items. They were concerned that mould might begin to grow behind the finished walls.
After our customer spoke with Claude Mathieu, System Design Specialist, they agreed on a waterproofing solution plan. They started by removing the entire concrete floor to release the water pressure underneath. Jose, Lucio, Ali, and the crew installed:

A home in Toronto, Ontario, had a problem in the basement. Over the years there was groundwater leaking into the area. It was damaging the finished walls, floor, personal items. It was also causing odours, and the homeowner did not want it to affect the rest of the home. They were also unable to use the basement space.
The customer called Clarke Basement systems and spoke to Claude Mathieu, who explained the process. Lucio and the team came in and installed WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, Flangless WaterGuard®, ThermalDry® Wall Insulation and SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System. This system ensures that any groundwater penetrating through the basement foundation walls or building up below the basement floor is captured and pump away from the foundation. These products were used around the full perimeter of the basement and across the middle, below the concrete floor, to ensure no more basement leaks.
The homeowner can now refinish basement and use the space with no concerns of groundwater leaking in.
A home in Oshawa, Ontario had water leaking into the basement. There was water at floor wall joint as well as cracks on the foundation wall that had attempted to fix. The homeowners couldn't use their basement anymore due to mould and constant water making the area unhealthy.
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to fix their basement problems and make use of the space again. Steve Matthews, the inspector, explained what we would be doing to correct these water issues. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier, TripleSafe™ Complete Sump pump and an IceGuard® Discharge Line System. The CleanSpace® was installed on all the walls keeping the moisture and water away from the basement, dropping it all into the installed WaterGuard®. The WaterGuard® pushes all the water into the TripleSafe™. The sump pump pushes the water out through the IceGuard® away from the home. This leaves the customers confident in renovating their basement again and no worrying about water damage in the future.
A home in Markham, Ontario had a water leaking problem at the side wall. There was a crack, form ties and floor wall joint seepage in the poured concrete wall. They had a finished basement, but the floor was always wet so the homeowner and their grandkids could not use the space.
The customer had used Clarke Basement Systems previously for other work and knew we could help with the water issues. Chris Luke was the design specialist that helped come up with a solution and answered any questions the customer had. Lucio, the installation specialist and his team, came in and installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain around the perimeter of the leaking wall. ThermalDry® Wall Membrane was introduced to stop leakage and moisture on the walls and direct it to the drain. A SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System with IceGuard® Discharge Line was installed to avoid flooding and keep the lines durable during the cold seasons.
With a fully waterproofed basement, it can be put back together without having to worry about the wet floor, leaking form ties or cracks that leak. They have their space again and they feel confident to let their grandkids play in the area!

A home in Port Perry, Ontario, had water seepage issues on the back wall, a crack on the front wall of the basement and because this was an older home, there also was seepage on the window well. During the heavy rain, the water would seep through the cracks in the concrete wall. The water seepage caused a wet floor, and the customer couldn’t use the basement space. They wanted to finish their basement and needed to know there would be no more water issues.
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to fully waterproof their basement. Chris Luke informed them of all the work that would be done and answered all their questions. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed ThermalDry® Wall Insulation against the concrete wall to direct all water seepage into the WaterGuard® Below-Foor Drain. They placed a new TripleSafe™ Complete Sump Pump System for three levels of protection and two IceGuard® Discharge Line System for protection from harsh weather. They installed a Well duct for window well drainage and put FlexiSpan® Crack Repair solution on the large crack to seal it. Now the basement can be renovated without wet floors, leaking window well and extra protection.
Clarke Basement Systems recommended to our customer in Stayner, ON that they have a full encapsulation and add a MositureLoc Dehumidifier with a SmartSump™Crawl Space Sump Pump System. The dehumidifier keeps the crawlspace dry and conditioned while the sump system collects the groundwater and pumps it outside. The crawl space is now clean, dry, and comfortable.
This caving foundation wall in Lakefield, Ontario, was a significant concern for our customer. The primary worry was that the wall would cave in resulting in a costlier repair. To stabilize the wall our team installed CarbonArmor®, to secure the wall from any further movement. ThermalDry® Insulation was placed over the foundation of the walls to funnel any water or moisture collected into the WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain. WaterGuard® was installed below the floor to capture groundwater seepage and help with the hydrostatic pressure. Both of these systems direct the water collected into the SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System. By correctly assessing the issue our team was able to provide a permanent waterproofing solution for our customer.
The customer wanted to eliminate the amount of water that was entering into the home. We mounted ThermalDry® Wall Membrane around the perimeter of the basement to protect the walls from any moisture or condensation. This system also helps insulate the space allowing the home to be warmer in the winter months and less humid in the summer months.
One Midhurst, ON homeowner, spent a week last year trying to keep his basement dry because of a power outage which resulted from an ice storm. We went ahead and install the TripleSafe™ Complete Sump Pump System for maximum protection.
Homeowners in Brechin, Ontario, had an issue with the condition of their crawl space. The owners were in the process of putting the house on the market and wanted to make sure the house was looking and functioning at its best. They noticed the crawl space had become very wet, unhealthy and unsightly. They needed a fast and reliable solution.
Rob Malcomson, a System Design Specialist, was able to prepare a safe solution to the problem. Lucio Flores, Installation Foreman, and his team installed a system that would make the crawl space clean and dry:
CleanSpace® and our Drainage Matting System were used to encapsulate the area sealing away ground moisture and controlling humidity in the home. ThermalDry® Wall Membrane R20 was used on all exterior walls and header spaces to help save energy and make the crawl space warmer in the winter.
With the project complete, the homeowners were able to list their house for sale with a clean, dry bill of health for their crawl space that included a transferrable warranty to the new owners.
Twenty years ago, the Byam’s built a beautiful log home as their retirement home. Over that time, they began noticing severe cracking in interior and exterior walls as well as windows and doors becoming out of square and difficult to operate. Later determined that one section of the home had been built over poorly compacted fill soils and caused settlement of nearly 5 inches. A permanent solution was required to stop the settling foundation and, if possible, restore the home to its original, level position.
After considering several options, Clarke Basement Systems was the contractor of choice due to their high level of professionalism, reputation, and thorough explanation of the solution. Clarke Basement Systems excavated the soil around the foundation walls and installed ten (10) Foundation Supportworks™ Model 288 Push Piers to permanently stabilize the foundation. L-shaped foundation support brackets positioned below and against the footings; steel pier sections were driven approximately 20 feet to competent load-bearing strata. Hydraulic cylinders were then used to lift the foundation nearly 5 inches to a level position, closing cracks throughout the home and bringing the doors and windows back into operation. The homeowners now have peace-of-mind thanks to their permanently stabilized, and they have the added assurance of a 25-year warranty.
There was constant leakage in the basement of this cottage following the Spring Thaw. We installed our WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain to protect the back wall of the cottage from unwanted water.
A home in Orillia, Ontario, had water entering into the basement for an extended period. The water was causing the basement to be unusable, smelly, and ruined the interior walls & floor. The homeowner did not feel comfortable leaving home to go out of town, in case the old sump pump failed again.
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems and spoke to Rob Malcomson, who explained the work. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System, ThemalDry® Wall Membrane, and a Double Pump System. The ThermalDry® wall membrane captures all the moisture and water from the walls and directs it into the installed Watergaurd. The WaterGuard® then directs the water into the SuperSump® to handle the volume. We established a Double Pump system in a different location due to the high amount of water entering the home.
The waterproofing systems allow the customer to have a peace of mind that the home will stay dry if they leave town. They also can use the space without worrying about water damage.
A home in Pontypool, Ontario, had a crack in the foundation wall that continuously leaked. Clarke Basement Systems was contacted to fix the issue correctly so that the customer no longer had to spend time and money trying to fix it. We gave the customer a permanent solution by using the FlexiSpan® Foundation Crack Repair System that completely stopped leakage. Now the customer no longer has to worry about water damage and has a clean and permanent solution. They were very satisfied with how quick and efficient our team was!
Sometimes waterproofing is not as simple as it seems as in the case of this semi-detached home in Hampton, Ontario. There was Hydrostatic pressure that built up and drove water up through the floor. The customer had many cheap solutions done, but all had failed and there was constant water leakage. The homeowner contacted Clarke Basement Systems to fix the problem permanently. A proper drainage system was installed in the form of a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain. A SumpPump® Premier Sump Pump System was installed as well as a CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier along all four walls of the home. Now the homeowner no longer has to worry about water and moisture because we have given them a permanent solution.
A property owner in Caesarea, Ontario, wanted a quick repair on one leaking wall, that would have little impact on the tenant. A home in Campbellcroft, Ontario had many additions added to it. Along with these additions were damaged drainage systems allowing water to come through into the basement. The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to fix the water issues. We installed a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain around the perimeter of the basement. The water will now gather in the drain and push out and away from the home. The customer was happy the basement was able to be saved.
In Port Perry there was a home that had a crack in the foundation wall, allowing water constantly through. The homeowner called Clarke Basement Systems to permanently stop the water issues. The FlexiSpan® Wall Crack Repair system was used to install a flexible seal to permanently fix the troublesome crack.
A cottage in Brechin, Ontario, had an issue with the basement floor due to Hydrostatic pressure driving water in through the floors. The cottage would flood many times a year causing mould and rotting. This space was unhealthy, and there was damage to multiple items.
Insurance was going to cancel the policy so the owner called Clarke Basement Systems. They spoke to Steve Matthews who explained the process of our solution. Lucio Flores and the team came in and installed WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain, CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier, TripleSafe™ Complete Sump Pump and Ice Guard® Discharge Line System. The CleanSpace® was established to keep out and moisture and direct water into the WaterGuard®. It is then pushed through the drain and into the installed TripleSafe™ with three levels of protection. It is then pushed out and away from the cottage through the IceGuard® with freeze protection. This system rid the space of the hydrostatic pressure, and the insurance company reinstated the insurance policy.
The customer was satisfied knowing there will be no more water issues and that they have insurance protection.
