Full Waterproofing System for Conservation Area Home in Woodbridge, Ontario

Surrounding yourself with nature can be a great way to relax and connect with the great outdoors. Some of us like to live in a suburban area or city, while some people prefer the quiet life in the country. Both have their pros and cons but living in nature and braving the elements can take a toll on your house.

A customer in Woodbridge, Ontario, lives in a Conservation Area. These green spaces sometimes consist of wetlands, increasing the risk of water seepage. The homeowner was dealing with water in her basement, and her previous sump pump wasn’t working. Worried about mould and water damage, she reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.

System Design Specialist Ben Wallis met with the customer and inspected her home. She walked Ben through her problem and Ben designed a waterproofing system that will give the customer peace of mind and keep her basement dry.

Foreman Jose Martinez started by encapsulating the basement with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane. This provides insulation while also funnelling any water that seeps through the walls down to the newly installed WaterGuard® Drain System. To pump the water out of the basement, Jose installed two SuperSump® Pumps and two UltraSump® Battery Backups.

The water is expelled from the basement through our patented IceGuard® Discharge Line. Combining an IceGuard® Line and UltraSump® Battery Backup ensures water will continue to be properly removed year-round, regardless of the weather. Since water was entering the near one of the customer’s window wells, Foreman Don Clarke also installed a new Sunhouse® Deep Well Window. With mould as a possible issue, Ben designed the system to include a SaniDry® Dehumidifier to condition the air and lower the relative humidity.

The homeowner is ecstatic that her basement is finally dry. Her investment is protected, and she can enjoy the beautiful nature around her with peace of mind.

Damp Crawl Space Stinks Up Cottage in Miller Lake, Ontario

Crawl spaces are great for additional space and storage, but the way they’re built comes with some potential issues.

A customer in Miller Lake, Ontario, was dealing with a foul odour coming from their basement. They own a small, cozy cottage where they love spending the weekend, but were growing tired of the moisture issue.

They reached out to Clarke Basement Systems and System Design Specialist Robert Langton inspected the home. Robert found water seeping through the dirt floor, and he designed a unique solution tailored to the customer’s needs.

Foreman Jose Martinez was tasked with waterproofing the area. Jose encapsulated the space to provide an air-tight seal that stops moisture. CleanSpace® Drainage Matting and a SmartDrain® help water drain into the ground, and an Aprilaire® Dehumidifier keeps the relative humidity at 50%.

With their cottage finally dry and smell-free, the customers are thrilled. They’re looking forward to having guests over and are happy knowing their investment is protected.
