Finishing a basement is expensive. When you're finally ready to get it done, you want to make sure you do it right, and the last thing you need is to have issues down the road.
A customer in Bowmanville, Ontario, decided to call Clarke Basement Systems before finishing her basement. She had water entering at two different spots in the basement, and she wanted to protect her new investment.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with the customer and inspected the home. He designed a solution to permanently waterproof the space and the customer eagerly booked a date for the installation.
Foreman Dave Jackson and his crew, Installation Specialists Alan Murphy and Bryan Richards, started by installing our patented WaterGuard® Drain System around the basement's perimeter, collecting water seeping down the walls and through the floor/wall joint. Next, a SuperSump® was installed to carry water away at a rate of 2,600 gallons per hour. Lastly, we encapsulated the walls with R20 rated ThermalDry® Insulating Wall Membrane.
The customer is blown away by how clean the space looks and is thrilled to have a permanent solution. She can't wait to waterproof her basement with peace of mind!
We all work hard for our money, so when we use it to invest in our home, we want that investment to last.
A family in Bowmanville, Ontario, was looking to finish their basement. The space was only bare foundation walls, so they were starting from scratch and wanted to make sure everything was done right. A large crack in the wall was leading to water seeping into the space, and they were understandably concerned about how this would affect the soon-to-come walls and floor. They decided to make the smart choice and reach out to Clarke Basement Systems for a free quote.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with the anxious customers and inspected the space. They were eager to start renovating as they were in desperate need of space for their growing family. Ryan walked them through their options before they set up an installation date with our production department.
Foreman Ali Fereidouni used our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair System to waterproof the cracked wall. The polyurethane sealant is injected directly into the crack before the outside is sealed. A drain is also dug below as a failsafe for any additional cracking.
The family is beyond excited to have a finished basement, and they have peace of mind knowing their investment will be long-lasting and well spent.
Trying to fix a repair repeatedly is frustrating. It leaves you wondering if the issue will ever be resolved and can keep you awake at night.
In Courtice, Ontario, a customer was tired of dealing with a pesky water leak in his basement. The problem had persisted for years, and he had tried many different store-bought solutions with no success.
Clarke Basement Systems came in and finally changed his basement for the better. System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with the customer and inspected the basement before recommending our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair.
Foreman Ali Fereidouni started by injecting the polyurethane sealant within the crack before caulking the exterior. FlexiSpan® stays durable but can still shift without losing its seal, keeping seeping water at bay. Lastly, a drain is placed over the entire crack in case of any future gaps that occur.
The customer doesn’t have to worry about his basement anymore and can use the space for storage again. No more headaches and sleepless nights!
No one likes dealing with water in their basement, especially when it renders an entire room useless.
A customer in Oshawa, Ontario, had water coming in through her cold room ceiling every time it rained. She wanted to use the space to store food and items but was concerned about water damage. Fed up, she decided to call Clarke Basement Systems.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met the customer at her home and inspected the space. He showed her our Cold Room Solution, and she was excited to see a solution that would solve her problem.
Foreman Don Clarke installed the system in a single day’s work. The walls were encapsulated with R10 insulation, and CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier and a SmartDrain® was dug into the floor. Drainage Panelling was installed on the ceiling with a slight grade to drain water towards the back wall, and a vent was installed in the door to allow airflow.
The customer is thrilled that her cold room is finally dry. She can start using the space as she pleases and no longer has to clean water off of her floor. No one likes dealing with water in their basement, especially when it renders an entire room useless. Peace of mind is something we all strive for. Whether it’s something small, like keeping the driveway cleared of snow in the winter, or something significant such as preventing your basement from flooding, it’s nice to have one less thing to worry about.
A customer in Stouffville, Ontario, was worried about the water in his basement. He had an old, no longer functioning sump pump in his basement that was producing a foul odour. Every time it rained, he had to bail the sump pump out using buckets to prevent his basement from flooding.
Tired of worrying and being a human sump pump, he reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a solution. System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon went to the home to inspect the old sump pump and review the customer’s options for a replacement
The customer decided to go with our SuperSump® Sump Pump to keep his basement dry. Foreman Lucio Flores installed the SuperSump® in the original pit where the broken sump pump was initially located and poured concrete around the new sump pump, giving it a finished look.
The customer is elated about their new sump pump. He no longer has to worry about his basement flooding, and his days of getting filthy and wet draining his old sump are long gone!
Water always finds the easiest way into the smallest places, and this includes a home’s foundation.
Foundation blocks are hollow, and sometimes they fill with water. For Christine in Newmarket, Ontario, she found this out the hard way. Each time it rained, the already soaked blocks became overwhelmed, leading to water draining into her basement. Christine was interested in finishing her basement, so she knew it needed to be dry before investing in the renovation.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with her, and they worked through the various options available. She wanted a solution that would go the distance, so she agreed with Ryan’s recommendation.
Foreman Dave Jackson and his crew, Installation Specialists Alan Murphy and Bryan Richards used our R20 rated ThermalDry® Wall Membrane to insulate and waterproof the walls. Our patented WaterGuard® Drain System was installed along the edge of the floor and connected to a SuperSump® Sump Pump System.
Christine appreciates the honest quote provided by Ryan Hanlon and the explanation of work completed by the crew. She can’t wait to finish her basement!
Who doesn’t love going to the cottage? From leaving work on a Friday afternoon to when you first walk through the door, we can’t wait to get away from it all and smell the fresh air.
For a customer in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, fresh air wasn’t all she was smelling. A broken, old sump pump was causing quite a stench in her cottage crawl space. The odour was spreading throughout the whole cottage and had become the main talking point when guests came to visit.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon created a full waterproofing system for the customer that included a SmartSump® Sump Pump and an UltraSump® Battery Backup. Foreman Lucio Flores and his crew installed the products, removing not just water from the crawl space, but the musty smell too.
The customer is delighted that her cottage smells fresh once again. Her basement is waterproofed for many years to come, with a warranty too!
When you arrive at a cottage, the first thing you expect is the smell of nature as you get out of the car, and maybe a small fire burning in a wood stove. What you don’t expect is a musty smell coming from a crawl space, spreading throughout the entire cottage.
A customer in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, was dealing with a musty smelling basement. Water was entering the space, and the smell was starting to render the cottage unuseable. The cottage owner reached out to Clarke Basement Systems, and System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon designed a full waterproofing system for the crawl space. The system included a complete encapsulation with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier, and R20 Wall Membrane to insulate the space, installed by Foreman Lucio Flores.
The customer is thrilled that her basement is now waterproofed. Not only did we eliminate the smell, but we also blocked a hole in the foundation that raccoons were using as an entryway to the crawl space. Some unhappy raccoons but a very happy customer!
When you head up north to the cottage, the last thing you want to do when you get there is deal with a damp crawl space. The smell can be horrible, and the humidity can cause severe damage to the building.
A customer in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, reached out to Clarke Basement Systems, looking for a solution for her wet crawl space. System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon met with the customer and inspected her cottage. He designed a waterproofing system that included an Aprilaire® MoistureLoc Dehumidifier, which keeps the relative humidity below 55%. Foreman Lucio Flores installed the dehumidifier strategically in the crawl space, complimenting the rest of the waterproofing system.
The customer is delighted that she no longer needs to worry about damage to her cottage caused by moisture and mould, and the first thing she notices when she steps inside isn’t a musty smell.
Mould and mildew was penetrating the basement of a beautiful cottage in the Kawartha Lakes causing a putrid smell to emanate throughout the interior of the structure. This customer was worried about the potential hazards of air-borne bacteria but was more worried of an overwhelming stench that was ruining what was supposed to be relaxing days and nights on the lake. Clarke Basement Systems specialist Ryan Hanlon designed a combination CleanSpace® and ThermalDry® flooring system to seal off the basement from any external moisture penetration. An Aprilaire® E-Series Dehumidifier was also installed to keep the humidity under control year-round to ensure a permanent long-lasting solution that will stand the test of time against the harshest Canadian climate.
As we grow older, our wants and needs inevitably change. We're over the whole homeownership thing and ready for something a little slower-paced with less maintenance.
In Buckhorn, Ontario, a retirement home manager reached out to Clarke Basement Systems after noticing the building's crawl space's humidity was excessive. He was concerned about the resident's health above, so after hearing about the solution System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon recommended, he was eager to go ahead with the repair.
Foreman Lucio Flores and Installation Specialist Russell VanderMeullen started by encapsulating the floor and lower walls with CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier. A SmartSump® Pump was installed to remove water, and an Aprilaire® Dehumidifier was utilized to control the excess humidity levels.
The building manager can breathe a sigh of relief knowing his residents are safe and have a permanent solution.
Seeing water run down the wall of your finished basement can leave you a little upset. Thousands of dollars go into creating a basement, and a water leak can wash your money away.
An Oshawa, Ontario, homeowner, Malik, was frustrated to see his basement beginning to fall into disrepair along one wall. A large crack had formed, and water was seeping into the space and ruining the drywall. So he reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a fix.
System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon inspected the crack behind the wall and recommended our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair. Malik was happy to hear the repair could be completed in one day, and Foreman Ali Feroudini was tasked with the installation.
Ali injected the polyurethane sealant directly into the crack before sealing the exterior. To ensure a complete repair, he dug a small ditch below the crack as a backup for additional cracking and used fresh concrete to relevel the floor.
Malik was blown away by the entire process. From reaching out to our Call Centre, meeting with Ryan, and having the installation done, he was impressed with our company's honesty and hard work. He quickly rebuilt the basement wall and said it looks better than ever.
