Full Encapsulation Keeps Cottage Crawl Space Dry in Haliburton, Ontario

A new purchase is always exciting. Sometimes it’s spontaneous, and sometimes it’s a goal we’ve been working towards for a long time. Either way, it’s nice to see our hard work pay off. For a customer in Haliburton, Ontario, that goal was a cottage.

The customer had recently purchased a 40-year-old cottage on Eagle Lake. The crawl space had a dirt floor, and moisture was seeping into the space from the ground. A musty smell was taking over the crawl space, so the customer reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a solution. 

System Design Specialist Robert Langton met with the customer and inspected the cottage. He created a plan to waterproof the crawl space and condition the air using our unique set of products and systems. The customer was thrilled to hear how his new cottage would be waterproofed in no time, and he booked a date for the installation.

To seal the space from the earth’s moisture and allow water to drain, Foreman Dave Jackson laid down drainage matting before encapsulating the floor with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. The next step was insulating the walls with ThermalDry®, which keeps heat in and moisture out. To ensure the air stays clean and fresh, Dave finished the installation with an Aprilaire® MoistureLOC Dehumidifier. 

The customer is excited to start their adventures at their waterproofed cottage. They’re happy with the completed job and have peace of mind knowing their crawlspace is clean and dry.
