Wall Crack Repair to Keep This Basement Permanently Dry, Vaughan Ontario
In Vaughan, Ontario, a wall crack had formed in the basement from the constant rainfall, resulting in an incredible amount of water entering the house. The homeowners were concerned about it causing more damage inside their basement. They contemplated doing the work themselves but noticed that the crack had formed outside too. They contacted the experts at Clarke Basement Systems for a professional opinion. Our System Design Specialist, Chris Luke, went to the home and did a complete inspection. At first glance, he knew that it was a job for our FlexiSpan® Wall Crack Repair System – it blocks off the water from entering the basement with a single-celled foam strip that covers the crack to absorb water and direct it down to a drain underneath the floor. Our service technician, Ali Fereidouni, installed the system in a few steps: He started with jackhammering the area creating a pit for water to flow to if needed Next, he filled the pit with gravel and cactus board  Ali removed debris and dust so the Flexi Caulking could stick and cure effectively Next, he installed foam and pressed in the sealant The pit was finished with fresh concrete at the footing of the wall Ali walked the homeowners through the installation – explained the curing process, the material used, and how the system works. The homeowners were excited about the entire service, from the initial call all the way to the final result.
Cellar Had an Extra Hidden Crack! Thornhill, ON
In Thornhill, ON, a cellar had a leak that caused the homeowners to remove all their stored belongings, fearing that the space would flood and the wooden shelves would collapse. They called the pros Clarke Basement Systems to save this space once and for all. Once everything was quoted and finalized, it was time to get to work. Our Installation Specialist, Alan Murphy, came to the rescue. The best way to tackle the cracks is to remove the shelving. When he finished the removal, he noticed that the crack split off towards the corner of the wall making it two. The repair system he used was our FlexiSpan®. FlexiSpan® uses a blend of our Flexi Caulk and a foam strip applied directly to the crack. A layer of caulking goes on both sides of the gap, not covering it. From there, Alan uses the foam, which will cling to the first application, catch any water, and direct it to the footing of the wall. Finally, another layer is coated on top to secure the work. The base of the wall is a water deposit and has our WaterGuard® attached, so any existing water goes behind the FlexiSpan® and out of sight. Alan was meticulous yet efficient, making this job quick and easy. The wife came downstairs and was very impressed with the work and the attention to the second hidden crack.
