Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Elderly Homeowner Urgently Needs New Sump, Markham ON
Challenge
In Markham, Ontario, an elderly homeowner had a failing sump pump, which caused a severe wet basement. Due to the homeowner's inability to use the stairs, his grandson would come over with a new pump every two months. These fixes were only temporary, and both of them wanted to find a solution that would be permanent and relieve the stress of the basement potentially flooding. The grandson found our team at Clarke Basement Systems, and we were able to send our System Design Specialist, Logan Watson, on the next available date.
Solution
Based on Logan's observations, he recommended our top-of-the-line sump pump, TripleSafe®, to ensure water was getting discharged safely and not backing up into the home. Regarding the exterior, Logan suggested a new PVC discharge line that will be buried under the lawn for protection and connected to our IceGuard® anti-freezing discharge connector. The homeowner was enthralled with the detailed inspection and knowledge behind the recommended products, leaving him at ease knowing his basement would be fixed.
Our crew, consisting of Foreman Jose Martinez and Specialist Trevor Bowman, arrived on the scene to start the installation. Trevor was focusing on the interior regarding the sump pump, and Jose was targeting the new discharge for maximum efficiency. A huge weight was lifted off the grandfather's and grandson's backs now that the basement is dry and has a functioning sump pump.
