Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Out with the Old, in with the New, East York
Challenge
Challenge
In Toronto, Ontario, a newly renovated home had a heated discharge line and sump pump installed last year, and the homeowners realized it wasn't fulfilling their needs. The house was not pumping enough water during heavy rainfall, and the sump pump was emitting a lot of noise, disrupting their daily routines. The homeowners were actively searching for a better system and came across Clarke Basement Systems. Our System Design Specialist, Ron Monk, made his way to their home to let them know about our products and how they could transform their plumbing.

Solution
Ron Monk recommended 4 products to replace their current system:
- TripleSafe™ Sump Pump with Battery Backup
- Heated Line™ anti-freezing discharge line
- IceGuard®
- Time Machine sump data collector
Once everything was finalized, our Installation Foreman, Dave Jackson, and crew, started installing the system from the inside and then made their way outside. It all began by removing the older sump and hooking up our new TripleSafe™. After installing the plumbing and connecting the battery, Dave then set up our Time Machine data collector that records when the sump pump is being used and how often it is going off. Concrete was laid out around the sump, and it was time to make our way outside to replace the heated line with our own at the beginning of the discharge line. Our IceGuard® was placed, followed by our PVC piping with a new heated line inside. The line wrapped around two-thirds of the backyard until it ended. To help water dissipate better toward the end, Dave drilled small holes along the final stretch of the piping. After cleaning up, Dave walked the homeowners through their basement going over details about each product installed and he even helped them launch the app that connects to the Time Machine.
