Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Water Ruining the Inside of this Beautiful Home, Thornhill ON
Challenge
In Thornhill, Ontario, a newly renovated home on the block had water from the drywall. The homeowner was initially confused about where it was coming from, but after sawing away the drywall and removing the insulation, he knew there was a leak on the outside wall. He knew he could not tackle this job independently, so he contacted Clarke Basement Systems to have professionals deal with the work. He watched our videos to see what our company offered – making a decision was easy!
Solution
Our Sales Manager, Jeff Fraser, arrived to quote our systems to the homeowner. The system included WaterGuard®, CleanSpace® and R20 insulation. Our Installation Foreman Jose Martinez and Installation Specialist Trevor Bowman, went to the house. Since the wooden studs could not be removed, they trimmed away the rotten parts. From there, they jackhammered the trench for our WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system, leading water to the drain trap attached to the home. CleanSpace® moisture barrier was tucked behind the studs. The last product installed in this job was our R20 insulation which cut to fit in between each joint. The final result surprised the homeowner – he appreciated all the hard work and professionalism of the entire team. He knew his home was fully protected. The house is dry, well insulated, and has proper drainage if water re-visits.
