Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

In one Toronto, ON home, water had penetrated the basement causing damage to personal items and basement finishing. Clarke Basement Systems provided and a solution to eliminate water from entering their home. A ThermalDry® Wall Membrane was installed to capture water from the walls and direct it to the interior drainage system and eventually back outside. 

Crawl spaces are a great asset for a home to have. Some houses have them instead of basements, while others come equipped with both. They’re great for storage, but sometimes the nature of how they’re built can cause a few problems.

A customer in Toronto, Ontario, was looking to renovate his basement, but wanted to deal with his crawlspace first. The small space couldn’t be used for storage due to moisture and the floor above was constantly cold. Concerned about mould growth and humidity, the customer reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.

System Design Specialist Ron Monk met with the customer and designed a solution to eliminate the moisture and insulate the floors above.

Foreman Dave Jackson and Installation Specialists Alan Murphy and Bryan Richards started by laying down drainage matting on the dirt floor, giving water an easy way out. To keep the space dry, Dave and his team encapsulated the entire space with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier and installed a MoistureLoc® Dehumidifer to keep the relative humidity around 50%. Lastly, SilverGlo® Insulation was placed on the walls to insulate the room and allow for walls to be built directly on top.

The customer is extremely thankful for the work done. He can start using his crawlspace for storage, giving him the room to start his basement renovation.

Making a large purchase and not getting what you paid for is stressful and frustrating. Nobody likes to be ripped off or lied to, but it happens far more often than it should.

A customer in Toronto, Ontario, bought a home with the intent of renting the basement. The basement was newly finished, but soon after moving in, he discovered water was soaking the walls and floor.

The homeowner reached out to Clarke Basement Systems and was understandably frustrated with the situation. He wanted to start generating a rental income as soon as possible and didn’t know how to repair his home.

System Design Specialist Ron Monk met with the homeowner and put some of his concerns to rest. Ron designed a full waterproofing system installed by Foreman Jose Martinez and Installation Specialist Trevor Bowman.

The team encapsulated the walls with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane and installed a WaterGuard® Drain System. These two products work together by guiding water to the new SuperSump® Sump Pump, where it’s expelled from the basement. A TrenchDrain® was used to collect any surface water near the stairs, and an IceGuard® Discharge Line was installed to keep water flowing regardless and any freezing in the line.

With his basement dry, the customer is looking forward to generating a rental income. He appreciates the work done by our team and is looking forward to many years as a landlord.

The homeowner was having water seepage and humidity issues in their basement, making them incapable of renovating the space.

Our solution was to supply and install our patented products: ThermalDry™ Wall Membrane, WaterGuard® Drainage System, Super Sump® with Ultra Sump® Battery Back-Up, and our IceGuard® Discharge Line.

By doing so, this will permanently waterproof and control any humidity in the basement and will allow the homeowner to renovate the home.

Now, the homeowner is pleased to be able to renovate and no longer have any flooding or humidity issues.

A home in Toronto, Ontario had a tight space to work with when waterproofing. This is a standard issue to deal with when dealing with a home basement.  We installed SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System under the staircase as well as IceGuard® Discharge Line System on the exterior and a WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain around the perimeter to keep water away from the basement. Lastly, we installed ThermalDry® Wall Insulation to prevent moisture and cold air from entering and retain heat. The customer can now confidently restore their basement to a healthy, dry and usable space!
