Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Humid Basement

The customer’s complaint was that the basement was terribly humid, the meter that has been purchased to measure the humidity said that there was over 70% humidity in the basement. This made stored items in the basement smell moldy and musty. The customer was very concerned that mold would take over and all the finishing’s and furnishings would be destroyed and have to be replaced. The customer had called in many water proofing companies to assess the situation and the responses ranged from a total re installation of a drainage system , to gutting the basement and replacing the finishes with non-organic material to again gutting the basement and living with an unfinished space and seal personal items in air proof containers. All of the solutions offered to the customer were going to cost tens of thousands of dollars and were un acceptable to the home owner

The last call the customer made was to Clarke Basement Systems and inspector Steve Matthews determined that the solution was very simple. The home was 3500 sq ft in size so 2 SaniDry air systems were installed the very next day. The situation was cleared up within 36 hours and the humidity levels were brought down to a reasonable 42%.
