The issue was 2 fold for the customer, the basment was wet, humid and dank and the second issue was the walls were horrid looking after 100 years of various paint and moisture control coatings.
The homeowner called Clarke Basements out of desperation as she had lost well over $5000 in personal computers, clothing and stored items to mold and moisture damage. There was not much in the way of flowing water that had gained access to the basement but the moisture and humidity levels were at a disturbing and dangerous 68%. The moisture levels in the concrete had begun to have the century old foundation crumble and spall.
Clarke Basement Systems called inspector Steve Matthews to view and assess the problem for the customer. An interrior drainage system was installed including, WaterGuard under floor drainage, CleanSpace wall membrane and all leading to a TripleSafe sump system. The final portion was a basement de-humidification unit the SaniDry, was installed to scrub and strip out humidity and mold from the basement.
The complete system was installed for around $7000 and took 2 days to install. Within 8 weeks the owner reports that the basement is not only dry and comfortable and far better in apearance with the wall membrane, but has such confedance in the system that she is under way to FINISHING the basement to include a study and a lounge.
