Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Crawl Space and Basement Duo Encapsulation, Lindsay ON
Challenge
Challenge
In Lindsay, Ontario, a home could not withstand extreme thawing issues, which allowed melted snow to enter the basement. Mopping up water every spring was not what the homeowners signed up for. They wanted to find a solution ASAP. The divided basement had two sections: one area was the conventional height, and through a small corridor, it transitioned into a dirt crawl space. The homeowners inquired about our services, and we scheduled our System Design Specialist, Chris Luke, to go to their home.

Solution
Upon inspection, Chris’ approach was to encapsulate the whole basement based on the amount of water leaking into the house. To move the water outside the home, he also recommended a SuperSump® pump. After the inspection was complete, the homeowners felt they had a weight lifted off their shoulders and wanted to schedule the installation as soon as possible. Our Installation Foreman, Lucio Flores, started the work. He began with our WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system to allow the water to travel from the basement to the soon-to-be-installed sump pump. Once the trenching was complete for our WaterGuard®, Lucio assembled the SuperSump® pump and hooked everything up. The final installation was our CleanSpace® encapsulation and drainage matting in the crawl space. The encapsulation will keep the water at bay and funnel it into the WaterGuard®, which will then trek toward the SuperSump®. From zero to hero, this basement crawl space duo went from no waterproofing to a fully enclosed dry living space.
