Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: At Home Day Care Teacher Needs Floors Stabilized on Main Floor
Challenge
Julia from Owen Sound runs a day care looking after ten children during the week. She grew slightly concerned with the stability of the main floor – it was bouncy and unlevel. Next, she also noticed some cracks in the foundation of her basement, which additionally allowed water seepage in. Finally, she called Clarke Basement Systems, where Logan Watson inspected each area of concern. After discussing a well-suited plan, Julia and Logan discussed her budget, and he was able to fix all three issues within a system bundle that Julia was happy with.
Solution
Installation specialists Jose Martinez and Trevor Bowman installed four SmartJacks® along the centre of Julia’s basement. A single SmartJack® is an adjustable steel pier engineered to fit the height of any crawl space or basement that is struggling to uphold its upper level. Once installed, it permanently stabilizes the floor. Next, the crew fixed her water seepage issue by installing our sub-floor drainage system and CleanSpace® wall membrane, where the crack allowed water seepage into her basement. When Jose and Trevor completed the job, Julia was relieved that all her concerns were fixed. She could now work on expanding her basement into a space to run her day care safely.
