Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Sinking Wet Floor? No Problem! York, ON
Challenge
When purchasing a home, you don't only encounter a dated interior, you also face dated support beams. These homeowners in York, Ontario, had uneven floors in their kitchens. The floor seemed to curve and sag in the middle, which raised an eyebrow. The homeowners wondered if the floor would collapse at any given moment. Ruling out their solutions, they decided it was best to have a professional come in and inspect the beams. That's when we stepped in.
Solution
After calling Clarke Basement Systems, our System Design Specialist, Ron Monk, went to the house and investigated the sagging issues in the floor. Ron noticed the main beam supporting the kitchen floor had deteriorated with age, and from the movement, he could tell there had been water coming in from outside, pooling into the space below. Ron quoted three products that would stop the level-out sagging and keep the area dry entirely. First was our CleanSpace® wall membrane that keeps all outside water from entering the basement. The second product was our drainage matting which gathers any excess water and funnels it away from the home. And the final product was our SmartJack® lifting system, which lifts the sagging beams back to their original levelled height. On a later day, Don Clarke and his team arrived at the home to begin the work. Not only was the job completed efficiently, but Don also explained each system thoroughly to the homeowners to set their minds at ease. As a result, thanks to our team at Clarke Basement Systems, the floor will be supported for many years.
