Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Leave it to the Back Up
Challenge
In many cases, homeowners are confused about where water leaks are coming from. Not in this home in Kirkfield, Ontario. Our client noticed a huge amount of water getting into the basement. They believed the source was the only entryway, the door. The poorly sealed door had gaps around the perimeter inviting water into the basement. After booking an appointment with Clarke Basement Systems, System Design Specialist Chris Luke inspected the leaky basement and knew the perfect yet permanent fix for this job.
Solution
Understanding how to waterproof a basement is just skimming the surface. At Clarke Basement Systems, we have many different technologies to ensure your home is protected and dry. In this client's situation, they needed maximum protection from any risk of water entering the basement. After his inspection, Chris concluded that a TrenchDrain® and Backup Battery Sump system was the solution for this client. What are those, you ask?
A TrenchDrain® is an open-grate waterproofing system that is often placed in entryways and the perimeter of a basement to redirect water to the sump pump. A trench is created, the system is installed, and the space is then filled with gravel and then resealed seamlessly with concrete.
Water flows along the TrenchDrain® to the UltraSump Backup Battery Back-Up System, the most protective technology we have. The average sump pump relies on your home's power, which is great until there is a power outage. In addition, the battery associated with the Back-Up system can hook up to your home's alarm system to alert you if there are any dramatic changes to the sump pump or simply when the product is relying on its battery power mode. Power is always needed when running a sump pump, so the Ultra Back-Up is the way to go in an ideal world.
The client now has a great understanding of our products as described by Chris Luke. The cleanup was immaculate, and the sump pump was tucked away, giving the basement more room than before. Back away from the backup; it's got this!
