Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Home Addition Leaks in Uxbridge, Ontario
Challenge
Seeing that important repairs have already been made at your new home is a relieving feeling, but that relief can quickly fade away after you realize there’s still an issue.
A customer in Uxbridge, Ontario, reached out to Clarke Basement Systems after moving into a house that already had our system in place. The system was still working perfectly, but unfortunately, the previous owners never waterproofed the addition. The addition was leaking water in, so the customer wanted it dealt with before his move-in date.
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the homeowner and inspected the addition. Water was leaking into the bathroom and laundry room, so Chris designed a plan that would add on to the existing system.
Solution
Foreman Dave Jackson and his crew, Installation Specialists Alan Murphy and Bryan Richards, started by digging a small trench around the perimeter. In this ditch, we installed our WaterGuard® Drain System before pouring new concrete over the top. WaterGuard® sits below the grade of the floor to drain water while remaining out of sight. The last step was to add ThermalDry® Wall Membrane to the walls to prevent water seepage and increase insulation.
The customer is thrilled that his entire home is now dry. We completed the job in only a day’s work, and he can renovate the upstairs and move in without having to worry.
