Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Customer Notices Wet Drywall in Stouffville, Ontario
Challenge
Each home is unique, and most of the time, that’s a good thing. Each house has its own quirks and charm, but sometimes unique structures can lead to common issues.
A customer in Stouffville, Ontario, noticed his drywall was starting to get stained in the corners. He figured it was probably water, but had no idea what to do or how it was getting in.
After meeting with System Design Specialist Ben Wallis, the customer felt confident that his issues would soon be taken care of. A date was set for the basement to be repaired.
Solution
Our foreman and crew worked hard waterproofing the basement. They used ThermalDry® Wall Membrane to encapsulate the walls, along with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier in certain sections. This acts as both a vapour barrier and an insulator. WaterGuard® was used for the drain to catch water at the floor/wall joint and drain it to the sump pump, where we installed a SuperSump®.
The customer is delighted with the work done. He no longer has to worry about further water damage and can finally start to enjoy his basement again.
