Homeowner in Toronto, ON, was looking to renovate his basement in order rent it out as a secondary income source. There was consistent leaking along the back and side walls as well as very high relative humidity. The basement had a damp, musty smell year-round, and there were signs of mould in the laundry room. This is because the home’s foundation is a block foundation, which is permeable to water and vapour. The homeowner knew that they could not be able to renovate their basement until they had fixed the water seepage and humidity issues in their home. They were also concerned about the health concerns of the basement.
The homeowner was referred to Clarke Basement Systems by a friend and wanted to have an estimate completed with Sales Manager, Jeff Fraser.
Jeff inspected the home and concluded that our patented products ThermalDry™ Wall Membrane, WaterGuard® Drainage System, Super Sump® with Ultra Sump®, and our IceGuard® Discharge Line would permanently waterproof and control the humidity in the basement.
The homeowner was very excited that our solution would address the basement issues and was eager to move forward. With a plan in place, Installation Foreman, Jose Martinez, and his team got to work!
They installed ThermalDry™ Wall Membrane around the perimeter of the basement, WaterGuard® Drainage System in the subfloor perimeter of the basement, Super Sump® with our Ultra Sump® Battery Back-Up System, and our IceGuard® Discharge Line.
Now that the work is complete, the homeowner is thrilled that the work has been completed and looking forward to restoring the basement and begin renting out the basement for the additional income.
