Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Basement Waterproofing for Excited Grandparents in Brampton, Ontario
Challenge
A couple in Brampton, Ontario couldn’t wait to have their grandchild move in with them. They were planning on renovating their basement, giving their son, his wife and their grandchild a place to live with them. They had been in the home for 35 years and were ready to take on the next chapter of their lives.
Excited for the big move, they were busy renovating their basement when they discovered a setback. Water seepage and flooding had caused damage to the drywall and floors. Water was entering through the basement bedroom, creating an issue that would surely push back the long-awaited move. Upset and frustrated at the thought of not being with their grandchild even longer, the anxious grandparents reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.
Solution
System Design Specialist Alex Barnik went to the home to assess the situation. Understanding their frustrations, Alex laid out a plan that would have their basement dry and “grandkid safe” in no time. Foreman Jose Martinez put the plan in motion, first by encapsulating the space using CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. CleanSpace® prevents moisture from entering the bedroom, and any moisture that comes in from the outside is directed down. From there, the WaterGuard® Below-Floor Drain collects the water and allows it to drain into the brand new SuperSump® pump. The SuperSump® is an effective and economical way of keeping your basement dry, pumping out 2,220 gallons per hour. To ensure no future issues, we installed an IceGuard® Discharge Line. This gives the customer peace of mind knowing that even if their discharge line freezes, water will still be removed properly.
With their basement waterproofed, the happy grandparents were able to have their family whole once again. Jose and his team worked hard to get the job completed before the move, helping the whole family breathe a sigh of relief.
