Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: CleanSpace® Encapsulation in Parry Sound, ON
Challenge
While our cottages may be our place of tranquillity and relaxation, sometimes they can bring headaches with the maintenance that comes along with their upkeep.
Our customers cottage located in Parry Sound, Ontario, was built on rock to get its best possible view of Crane Lake. Like most, cottages that are built on rock eliminate the basement aspect and are equipped with a crawlspace. The bedrock is often sloped underneath your cottage/home that tends to allow water to flow into your crawlspace during wet seasons. These customers experienced just that when they noticed issues on the first floor above their crawlspace. What caught their attention was a musty smell, which later lead them to discover their floor framing was beginning to rot. With wishes to renovate and sell further in the future, the cottagers knew this type of damage could make their resale very difficult if not dealt with properly. Prior to calling Clarke Basement Systems, the cottagers attempted to use spray foam as a preventative solution to help with their problem. Although spray foam will cool the rock and ridden condensation, it unfortunately, does not stop any water from leaking in.
Solution
Lucio Flores and his team went in with a common, yet effective solution used for bedrock; our CleanSpace® encapsulation system that keeps water and precipitation isolated from the crawlspace. Next, the team installed a dehumidifier to keep the air dry and eliminate the growth of mold. The two systems work together so our customers can continue to enjoy their place of escape without worrying about mold growth and all the nuisances that come along with it. They were also comforted with the assurance that they knew that could move forward with renovations and get their place on the market!
