CleanSpace®

Chances are, if you have a crawl space under your home or cottage, it has a dirt or gravel floor. The most important improvement you can make for this space which affects your entire home, physical health and its occupant’s health, is installing a CleanSpace® Crawl Space System. This heavy, durable liner is a specially designed 20-mil thick membrane for interior crawl space applications. It’s made from 7 layers of high-density and low-density polyethylene with a fibre reinforcement woven into it. The high density gives the material incredible strength. The low-density layers give it great flexibility. The fibre reinforcement helps to prevent rips or tears. Embedded into the material is an anti-microbial additive called “UltraFresh.” This prevents mould growth in or on the product.   

Crawl spaces are often unhealthy due to the fact they have been built on dirt and not covered properly. Moisture from the ground is drawn out of the earth and upward into the building. This moisture over time, comes into contact with the wood in the building and slowly starts to grow mould. Mould gradually eats away at the wood in the crawl space weakening the structure. Support posts and beams become weaker and start to bend. The same thing happens to floor joists and the wood sub-floor too. The mould spores that grow also smell, creating an unhealthy home or cottage environment both in the crawl space and in the upper levels where you live and sleep. While it affects everyone’s health, anyone using this building will be harder on people if they have allergies, respiratory issues or are elderly.

It should be noted that CleanSpace® alone is not a solution on its own. It should be combined with our other products.
