Clarke Basement Systems Case Studies: Fixing This Basement For The Better, Grand Valley ON
Challenge
This uninsulated, bowing, and sheared walled basement was causing many problems for the owners in Grand Valley, Ontario. Regarding the walls in the basement, they were at risk of collapsing and inviting more water in. In addition, the floor was continuously full of water from the leaking walls, which annoyed the homeowners because they had to either experience ruined belongings or constantly relocate them.
Solution
We had our Project Manager, Ben Wallis, come to the home and quote some of our products that will aid the home’s foundational integrity and waterproofing. For the bowing walls, Ben showed our new clients our GeoLock® Anchor System. With compromised basement walls, there is no option to “Put it on the back burner” since the walls are supporting your entire home. Without the walls being repaired, it can lead to further leaks and the house will eventually collapse on itself. As for the waterproofing process, Ben recommended our SuperSump® since it has a battery back-up attached to it so it will never go out even during a power outage. To have water enter the sump pump, our WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system was installed to catch all the water from the outside and make its way into the new sump pump. To insulate the walls, our r20 ThermalDry insulation was installed. This basement is beyond safe and dry.
