Clarke Basement Systems Case Studies: Wall Crack Causes Water Seepage and Damages Belongings in Pickering, Ontario
Challenge
When something gets wet, we dry it off, put it in the dryer, or leave it out in the sun. It’s usually not a big deal, and we shrug it off and move on. But when your stored items in the basement are continually getting soaked, it’s not as easy to shrug off. We use our basements for all sorts of storage, and water seepage can easily cause the space to be useless, or worse, permanently damage your belongings.
A customer in Pickering, Ontario, had two cracks in their foundation wall that were allowing water in. The cracks were located behind a storage spot, and the damage from water was postponing their renovation plans.
Tired of wringing out their stuff, the customer turned to us for a permanent solution to their problem.
Solution
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the customer at his home and inspected the cracks. He showed the customer how our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair System works, and the customer was thrilled to learn that we had the perfect solution for him.
A repair date was set up, and Foreman Mark Dougherty started by excavating the crack. This makes it easier to seal and gives our polymer fresh concrete to adhere too. While FlexiSpan® works 95% of the time, an additional drain is always dug into the concrete to ensure the basement stays 100% dry. Our system stops the seepage, and any water that does manage to get through is directed to the drain. Mark finished the job by pouring new concrete over the drain, giving the job a finished look.
The customer is delighted that they can finally go ahead with their renovations. Their belongings are protected, and they can continue to use the basement the way they want too.
