A home in Oro Medonte had a very unhealthy, musty smell all over the house caused by their crawlspace condition. This space was wet, musty,  and starting to mould. Due to obvious health reasons, the homeowner could not use the home in the current condition. Until this problem met a solution, the homeowner could not move back into his house.

The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to come up with a solution so they could solve the problem quick. Rob Malcomson took a good look and explained to the customer the whole procedure that would be done. Jose Martinez and the team came in and installed CleanSpace® encapsulation to separate earth moisture. Drainage matting was put in to allow water to move under encapsulation to sump pump location. Re-grading of the dirt floor was done to let water to flow to the sump pump. We removed the debris to clean up the space prior to encapsulation. SmartJack® Floor Solution was installed to secure the crawlspace and replace the old beam that was settling. The customer was able to move back into home and the space is now managed and healthy, no smells and supported with warranty.

Basement encapsulations are not debatable. Waterproofing cannot be avoided as it can affect your structural integrity, can damage your goods stored in the home, and can decrease the quality of air from mould or allergens that’ll form. In Oro-Medonte, these homeowners wanted to waterproof their basement because they were renovating them to create bedrooms for their children. However, the renovations were put on hold due to water seeping issues and putting their kid’s safety first. Clarke Basement Systems was contacted, and our System Design Specialist, Logan Watson, arrived to do his inspection. With safety and ingenuity, he recommended numerous products that would save this basement from ever having water damage again. For starters, he quoted our WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system that will collect water from the walls and direct it to the sump pump. Transitioning to sump pumps, a SuperSump® was going to be installed to discharge as much water as possible while saving money on electrical. For the walls itself, our CleanSpace® wall membrane is placed around the basement so any water coming in will stay along the inner wall to the WaterGuard®. Those primary products will allow the homeowners to pick up their renovations where they left off. Our Installation Team of Lucio Flores, Trevor Bowman, Tai Mark, and Andrew Latour completed the work within a few days. The homeowner could rest easy with the expert job done by our System Design Specialist and Production Team.
