Our customer located in Schomberg, Ontario was concerned about a problem in their basement. Some ports in the foundation had started leaking from a crack that formed in the wall. It had begun to pool on the floor which was a concern for mould growth. The customer was anxious the leak would lead to future damage.

Our team went to the home and took a look at the problem area in the basement. They used our FlexiSpan® Wall Crack Repair System which would permanently fix the problem. The sealant fills the spaces in the damaged wall. A thick foam wick placed on the foundation sealed the ports. The homeowner could finally store more items in their basement.

These homeowners were left scared after experiencing non-stop flooding, foundation shifting, and concrete cracking throughout their basement. The wife went downstairs to get some headphones for one of her work-from-home meetings and realized that there had been abundant water pooling around the basement floor. Immediately, the homeowners moved all their stored goods into their everyday living spaces for the time being, but this became an issue since the home was now cluttered and wet. Every six months the garage floor would crack from the constant shifting, and the block foundation would soak up all rainwater and shift the blocks inward towards the home. The constant moisture and foundation adjustments worried the homeowners and they wanted to act fast before it was too late. They contacted Clarke Basement Systems for a professional point of view on how to tackle this job. Our System Design Specialist, Ben Wallis, came to the home to showcase 4 unique products that will transform this home for the better. He started with the foundation shifting and recommended one of our wall-straightening systems called GeoLocks™. This system uses metal plates that hook onto the inner wall of the basement and is connected to an anchor outside dug into the client's lawn. In tandem, they will get tightened and move closer together, allowing the wall to straighten back its 90-degree state. 

            Moving on to the basement waterproofing side. Since the water wasn't getting discharged properly, Ben recommended our top-of-the-line sump pump, TripleSafe™. This system uses 3 mechanisms to pump water safely out of your home effectively. The cast-iron material helps keep it underground from its weight and prevents it from rusting, making it a long-lasting pump. We installed a battery backup system to have the pump work through a power outage.

            The walls would soak up a bunch of rainwater and end up pooling on the basement floor, so we had our CleanSpace® vapour barrier and WaterGuard® system installed. CleanSpace® is a thin, white material that keeps all outside water behind and has it run down to the wall's footing. From there, our WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system embedded in the ground will funnel the water into the newly installed sump pump. 

            Thanks to the help of our Don Clarke, Andrew Latour, and Dustin Biggs installation crew, we were able to stabilize and waterproof this entire home.
