After CleanSpace® and R-20 ThermalDry® system installed
Customers in Brampton, ON, contacted Clarke Basement Systems for help with high humidity levels and temperature control throughout their home. These problems can occur from something called the Stack Effect. This means that the air is drawn from the crawl space to the upper floors of the home. The overall temperature wasn’t consistent throughout the house. System Design Specialist Ron Monk created a full solution to help control the temperature and eliminate future mould problems to deter potential health complications.
The solution was focused on the crawl space of the home. This was the root of their problems since 50 percent of the air in the crawl space is drawn to the upper levels, which is why they had mould up on the top floor. First, we used our CleanSpace® encapsulation system to isolate the crawl space from the damp soils underneath. This greatly reduces the amount of moisture in the air that leads to mould and wood rot. Next, we insulated the walls to keep the crawl space warm, providing better temperature control and the family no longer had to deal with cold floors! All in all, the two solutions work collectively to reduce moisture and keep the place warmed up without using the furnace and hiking up heating costs.
