Foundation Repair Case Studies: Sinking Slab in Basement Walkout

Thursday, February 20th, 2014 by Chris Luke

Challenge

House is built on a hill which means that the soil under the basement slab had to be brought in prior to slab being poured. Because of this the slab in back corner of basement was sinking due to the fact it was poured on a sandy fill soil and had a heavy fireplace built right on the slab as well. The fireplace was showing the signs of settlement with cracking in mortar joints.

Solution

Install 5 Foundation Supportworks slab piers to solid soils to lift slab and permanatntly stabilze it to prevent further settling and also close cracks in brick fireplace.
