Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Water Seepage Floods 175-Year-Old Basement in Little Britain, Ontario
Challenge
When it comes to getting work done at your home, you want a contractor that you can trust. We’ve all heard the horror stories about half-finished jobs, overpaying for subpar work, or one of the many other contractor scams. You’re putting your hard-earned money into someone and trusting them with your home, so they must be honest and fair.
A customer in Little Britain, Ontario, had recently purchased an old house, and her inspector had pointed out some issues with the basement that needed to be dealt with. The home is 175-year-old, and a water issue was nothing new. The customer had a contractor out to inspect the house before we did, and they tried scaring her into unnecessary repairs. That’s when she called Clarke Basement Systems for a second opinion.
Solution
System Design Specialist Rob Malcomson met with the customer and explained how a few simple products and repairs could fix her issue. She was thrilled to find out it would cost significantly less than the first contractor had quoted. Excited to fix her basement and move into her new home, she booked a date for the installation.
Foreman Jose Martinez started by installing our CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. CleanSpace® encapsulates the basement to catch any water that seeps through the walls. Jose used PVC piping to drain the water to her basement drain, eliminating moisture and protecting her framing for years to come.
The customer is ecstatic about how dry her new basement is, and she still can’t believe how much money she saved. It pays to choose a trustworthy, proven waterproofing company!
