Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Incorrect Exterior Waterproofing Fixed in Blackstock, ON
Challenge
After a homeowner in Blackstock, Ontario, had some very expensive exterior waterproofing done but the problem was not resolved. The water continued to flow into the house due to the hydrostatic pressure driving the water up and underneath the home. They had finished renovations to the basement and were upset when they found water was still coming through.
Solution
The customer contacted Clarke Basement Systems to fix this problem with warranty. The simple solution was to install WaterGaurd sub floor drainage around the perimeter of the home to force the water to go where we want it. We also installed a SumpPump to keep flooding under control and to eject the water outside safely away from the house. Lastly ThermalDry wall membrane was installed to seal the basement walls and provide a radiant barrier for heat.
