Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Spring Thaw Attacking The Walls, Peterborough ON
Challenge
Spring thaw gets the best of them all. Diana, in Peterborough, Ontario, called Clarke Basement Systems because water was seeping through the walls. The snow buildup from the harsh winter had started to melt, causing tons of water to make its way into the soil and basement walls.
Solution
We scheduled a free inspection and to get ahead of the leaking walls before they caused severe damage to her home. Our System Design Specialist, Ryan Hanlon, arrived at the house to see how our products could save this leaking basement. He quoted four products to ensure the basement is dry, insulated, and has water effectively discharging out of the home. Once the quote was approved by the homeowner, our installation team came to the house and began the work. Our experienced installer, Lucio Flores, and his crew install everything in sequence and with precision.
- First, the team installed the Super Sump. This version of the sump pump has a battery backup that recharges on its own, so when the power goes out, the pump still functions.
- The second and third products installed were the R20 ThermalDry™ insulation and WaterGuard®. These products are compatible and make water from the walls trickle down into the sump pump while WaterGuard® insulates the basement effectively. An insulated and dry basement makes for an energy-saving and stress-free home.
- The fourth product is our IceGuard® discharge line attachment. IceGuard® attaches to the end of your discharge pipe and prevents freezing during the colder months. No freezing pipes equal proper water clearance.
Diana was impressed with the final product, and the explanation Lucio gave about how each product works. She wants us to do her annual maintenance based on the excellent service.
