Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Basement Close to Caving in Itself, Port Perry, ON
Challenge
In Port Perry, Ontario, the basement was shifting, compromising the home's foundation. The basement's back wall had cracked severely to the point that it created a shelf-like pattern and was about to cave in. The homeowners were worried that the space would collapse one day and there would be no way to salvage the belongings below. To avoid this ticking time bomb of the foundation, the homeowners decided to google search foundation support systems in Port Perry, where Clarke Basement Systems showed up at the top of their search. After reaching out to us, we were able to send our experienced and honest System Design Specialist, Chris Luke, to the home and see how he could make this basement wall stand tall again. He arrived and began his basement inspection and knew immediately what would need to be applied. We work closely alongside Foundation Support Works of Ontario, where we get our foundation braces and tools to aid your basement walls. Chris quoted our new clients our PowerBrace™ product which essentially prevents the wall from caving anymore than what it is, and corrected the posture to stand straight again. The beams run from floor to ceiling and require precise measurement to ensure they fit perfectly in the home.
Solution
On a later day, Dave Jackson, our Installation Specialist, arrived on site to begin the installation. With Chris providing the exact measurements and quoting where the braces would go, the job was easy enough to get it all installed in less than one business day. Dave laid out all the beams in the basement and began installing them on the floor and the ceiling. The wall started to correct itself immediately but will correct more as time goes on. The homeowners were impressed with the professionalism and the permanent fix that Chris and Dave provided.
