Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Crack in Laundry Room, Pickering ON
Challenge
In this apartment complex in Pickering, Ontario, many residents had walked into the laundry room and soaked their socks from the puddles scattered around the floor. The property managers were informed and noticed a wall crack just behind the dryer in the corner. They were worried that the leaking could get worse since the gap ran from top to bottom. The water build-up had formed some mold and can get more prominent as time goes on. To dry this room, the property managers needed to get the crack repaired and waterproofed. After searching up waterproofing in Pickering, they found Clarke Basement Systems at the top of their search. They gave us a call, and we were able to send our Experienced System Design Specialist, Chris Luke, to the apartment.
Solution
Once Chris came home, it was time to analyze the problem and see how we could repair and waterproof it. He noticed that the crack was described but thankfully ran in a straight line. Chris recommended that we apply our WaterGuard®, CleanSpace®, and FlexiSpan® to make sure this crack is not allowing any more water in again. Once the quote was made and the property managers were informed about what products were used, how long it would take, and who would be coming to the home, it was time to send our installation foreman. Later that week, our Installation Specialist, Ali, arrived at the house to begin the work. Thankfully our work would take less than a full day to get the products installed and cleaned up. Ali started by excavating the floor to make way for our WaterGuard®. Once the trench was made, it was time to apply our FlexiSpan® sealant to block off the crack from the water and have it trickle down to the WaterGuard® at the bottom of the wall. After that installation was done, it was time to put our CleanSpace® wall membrane to compress everything into the wall seamlessly. The process took a couple of hours, and the work was done with Ali's meticulous vision to ensure everything was placed precisely. Finally, the laundry room was accessible and dry once again.
