Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: You got to Sump it up! Caledon, Ontario
Challenge
A home in Caledon, Ontario, had a failing sump, poor waterproofing, and an unfinished basement. The homeowners needed to find a company that could waterproof the basement so that they could start with the renovations of the home. Unfortunately, there was a disaster with no proper drainage and wires in the HVAC room. This home needs to be waterproofed and have water pumping to ensure the water is being dealt with.
Solution
Once the homeowners found Clarke Basement Systems at the top of their waterproofing google search, we were able to send out our experienced System Design Specialist, Ben Wallis. Once Ben arrived at the home, he gave the homeowners a breakdown of what would happen in the job. The installation specialist will make a perimeter drainage system to guide the water to the sump pump installed where the existing drainage system is. The job will take two days to complete and be done during business hours to avoid interruption in the homeowner's everyday life. On a later day, Dave Jackson, our installation specialist, arrived at the homer to begin the work. He started by jackhammering the trench to house the new drainage piping. Once the piping was in place, it was time to apply gravel around the empty areas in the channel to accommodate the concrete being poured on top and to run any excess water into the sump pump. Once the piping is in place, it is time to put the sump pump in. Our sumps are designed not to fail compared to your standard sump, and we provide annual maintenance to ensure everything is working smoothly. To add an extra layer of waterproofing, Dave installed our CleanSpace wall membrane to protect the wall from any intruding barrier. With the combination of the membrane, the trench and the pump, the water that may enter the home has a path to the pump. The water coming from the walls will trickle behind the membrane and into the drainage system, then to the pump. If you're asking us, this basement is waterproofed permanently.
