Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Follow the Wet Basement Road
Challenge
Notice anything getting wet in the basement? You dry it off, clean the damp floor, and put everything back. That's weird; everything is wet again. That is a leaky basement you have there. Our clients in Caledon Village had experienced a damp storage room. Every time they put food, stored products, and furniture in the basement, they would get soaked from the water leaking from the walls. The homeowners were concerned that the water would cause mold to form and make the home unlivable. The homeowners called us right away based on our specialty in basement waterproofing.
Solution
Project Manager Ben Wallis inspected the problem and concluded that it originated from the basement perimeter. Water was coming from outside, trickling down to the wall, and pooling around the basement floor perimeter. So, on a later date, the installation team, Dustin Biggs and company, stepped into permanently waterproofing the basement.
Starting off the process, the basement perimeter was removed and disposed of. Then, the wall membrane was installed, following up with the WaterGuard®, and the floor was concretely flushed to the surrounding ground.
Some terminology to take away from this installation is our wall membrane CleanSpace® and WaterGuard®. CleanSpace® essentially funnels any moisture or leaking groundwater to a deposit below. The deposit below happens to be called WaterGuard®, a sub-floor drainage system that directs water to its sump system.
With the systems in place, the home is now permanently waterproofed. The homeowners have peace of mind knowing that the house is now safe from any groundwater.
