Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Sinking Foundation Threatens Home's Integrity and Resident's Safety in Gravenhurst, Ontario
Challenge
Homes start from the bottom up, so ensuring you're starting on the right foot is vital. The wrong foundation or fill materials can lead to disaster.
A customer in Gravenhurst, Ontario, reached out to Clarke Basement Systems after noticing some shifting and sinking throughout his foundation. He didn't know what the issue was or what was causing it, just that something had to be done.
After meeting with System Design Specialist Chris Luke, the customer felt confident HIRING us for his repair. Chris thoroughly inspected the entire home and foundation and determined the perfect system to stabilize the house permanently.
Solution
Foreman Shane O'Rourke and his crew, Installation Specialists Bill Parkinson and Luke Haverkort, started by excavating around the block foundation's perimeter. The crew used a combination of push piers and helical piles to straighten and stabilize the entire building. Push piers use a high-strength round steel rod and load transfer brackets to stabilize and lift the sinking foundation. Helical piles are drilled down into the bedrock at a PSI of 18,000 lbs/ft to prevent further sinking.
The customer feels comfortable knowing his home is safe and sound. His stress is gone, and he's glad he chose Clarke Basement Systems for the repair.
