Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Basement Crack Threatens Electronics in Orangeville, Ontario
Challenge
A basement leak can do more than soak your belongings and give you a headache. When water starts to spread, it can affect electronics, HVAC equipment and even rot away your home’s framing.
A customer in Orangeville, Ontario, wanted to repair his leak before these issues happened. A large crack formed near the electrical panel, and he was concerned about how much damage the water could do. He reached out to Clarke Basement Systems for a permanent solution.
System Design Specialist Ben Wallis met with the client and inspected the home. Ben explained to the customer how form tie holes used for pouring concrete could cause cracking over time. He told the homeowner about our FlexiSpan® Crack Repair System, and a date was booked for the repair.
Solution
Foreman Ali Fereidouni started by injecting the polyurethane sealant between the crack to form a tight seal. Ali dug a small in-floor drain to act as a failsafe and added additional sealant to the crack’s exterior.
The client is pleased that his leak turned out to be just a crack and not an entire basement problem. He’s thrilled he has a permanent solution and peace of mind.
