Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: High Humidity Threatens Stored Goods in Aurora, Ontario
Challenge
It’s typical for a basement to have higher humidity than the rest of your home. Moisture sinks while heat rises, so a little bit of stickiness is standard, as long as it’s under control.
A customer in Aurora, Ontario, used his basement for storage, but he noticed the humidity level was creeping up. He didn’t know what the relative humidity was sitting at, but he grew concerned about mould or damage to his items.
He decided the best next step was to call in the experts. He reached out to Clarke Basement Systems and met with System Design Specialist Chris Luke. Chris inspected his basement and discovered no water leaks, but confirmed his suspicion of high moisture in the air. Chris recommended our Aprilaire® Dehumidifier, and a date was set for the installation.
Solution
Foreman Ali Fereidouni travelled to the home and met the homeowner. Following Chris’ design, Ali installed our high-efficiency dehumidifier. The unit plugs into a regular outlet and can even be set up to be self-draining.
The customer is happy knowing his basement is dry and protected. He can store items down there without worrying and has peace of mind with a top of the line dehumidifier.
