Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Bad Drainage Causes Mould Problem in Minden Hills, Ontario
Challenge
Whether it’s your home, cottage, or your stored belongings, mould is something you never want to see. Sometimes it builds up in bathrooms, but it’s hard to know what to do when it becomes a serious issue.
A customer in Minden Hills, Ontario, was trying to prevent a mould problem before it started. Water was draining right past his cottage foundation on the way to the lake and had even started leaking into the basement. He decided to reach out to Clarke Basement Systems before things got any worse.
Solution
System Design Specialist Robert Langton inspected the cottage and designed a waterproofing system to stop the water and prevent mould. Foreman Dave Jackson and his team started by installing insulation over the walls to add some extra warmth during the winter. To control the water, a full perimeter of our WaterGuard Drain System was installed and connected to a SuperSump® Pump. An IceGuard® Discharge was installed to prevent any backups due to freezing. Dave’s crew also installed an Aprilaire® Dehumidifier to control the excessive humidity.
The customer is very appreciative of the work done. He can’t wait to use his basement again and is happy knowing his cottage is protected.
