Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Water Seepage Soaks Customer's Belongings in Greenwood, Ontario
Challenge
Our homes have many different uses. From cooking a meal for the whole family to storing linens in the closet, everything has a spot, and every spot has its purpose. But when something gets in the way of using those spaces, it can be frustrating for the whole family.
A customer in Greenwood, Ontario, had an issue with water seepage. Every spring, when the snow thawed, water was entering through a spot in their basement. Each time it happened, they would discover their belongings soaking wet. Tired of dealing with the situation, they called Clarke Basement Systems to set up a free estimate.
Solution
System Design Specialist Chris Luke met with the homeowners and inspected their basement. He discovered where the water was coming in and designed a system to keep the basement dry. He walked the customers through each step and ensured the system was the right solution for their needs and budget.
Foreman Lucio Flores started by encapsulating a portion of the basement with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier. CleanSpace® catches seeping water and directs it downward to a drain. For the drain portion, Lucio installed WaterGuard® along part of the basement perimeter. From there, the water is drained to a SuperSump® Sump Pump before being expelled outside through an IceGuard® Discharge. This way, any freezing during the winter won’t cause a backup of water.
The customer is thrilled that their basement is dry. They can store belongings without having to worry and know exactly who to call if they have any new issues down the road.
