Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Wall Crack Leaking Water in Beaverton, Ontario
Challenge
Walking into your basement and finding water damage is a worst-case scenario. It can be costly and difficult to find where the water is coming in, and even more expensive to fix the problem. For a customer in Beaverton, Ontario, this worst-case scenario was a reality.
During an inspection, a stress crack was discovered under a window. Unfortunately, this is a common issue with poured concrete walls, and many homeowners have to deal with the consequences. Water was entering through the crack and causing damage to both the flooring and wall material. Relieved that the source of the problem was discovered but needing to get it dealt with, the customer contacted Clarke Basement Systems.
Solution
Having dealt with this issue many times in the past, System Design Specialist Rob Malcomson was able to provide the customer with an efficient plan of action. Foreman Mark Dougherty started by removing the area of the wall covering the crack. From there, he started the installation process using our Flexispan® Wall System crack repair. Unlike ordinary cement and epoxies, Flexispan® polyurethane polymer sealant is durable and moves with the wall. As concrete expands and contracts as the seasons' change, other sealants break and lose their bond. Flexispan® is a high-viscosity polymer, built to last with a 25-year warranty. With the crack sealed, the customer is happy knowing his basement is dry, and with a guarantee!
