Basement for Remote Work in Toronto, ON

COVID-19 presented a plethora of unpredictable changes the world had never quite seen before. From children disallowed from going to school to institutions and businesses shutting down, the world pressed pause. Hopefully, with the worst of it now over, the global ramifications of the pandemic will echo on for years to come. One of the most significant changes for any office worker in any country on the planet was the switch to fully remote working environments. Because of this, we took everything previously done in person, like negotiations and meetings, to the online platform. Many people were now in need of precious office space in their own homes, and the biggest problem for most was that they didn’t have any. As peace and quiet became a thing of the past, the value of previously unfinished areas in a home instantly skyrocketed. Space became the hottest item for anyone looking to get some claustrophobic relief to get some work done.

One customer with an old home in Toronto desperately needed to renovate their basement to create some usable workable office space. They needed the freedom to be not only dry but also comfortable. The customer planned on renovating the space, spending thousands of dollars on materials and renovation contractors. The last thing the customer wanted was to do all that work and spend all that money in vain. They needed peace of mind they would be able to work comfortably and sustainably in their home basement. Their next call was to Clarke Basement Systems.

System Design Specialist Chris Luke used his depth of knowledge to develop a cost-effective and long-lasting solution for their specific basement needs. After consulting with the clients via their particular needs, Foreman Jose Martinez began his meticulous approach. Due to the nature of the customer’s specific basement seepage and considering their desire to remodel, a combination of systems were installed to ensure year-round, one hundred protection.

Firstly, Jose sealed the walls with our CleanSpace® sealant technology, keeping any moisture out. A small trench was dug up at the wall line, and the WaterGuard® drainage system was installed to drain any potential moisture. If any water does manage to penetrate the seal, the drains will flow to a SuperSump® Premier Sump Pump System along with an IceGuard® discharge system ensuring water safely and quietly pumps up and out to the main drain even in the coldest of weather. These systems are designed to last for years, with a 25 year fully transferable warranty. Meaning that they are some of the most successful basement waterproofing methods available today. New Sump Pump and Heated Line in East York, ON

In Toronto Ontario, these homeowners were having sump pump and plumbing issues. Last year, they installed a new sump pump and discharge line, but they ran into noise issues from the pump, and the pipes would freeze with the current line. After doing some research, they came across Clarke Basement Systems to fix their troubles. Our System Design Specialist, Ron Monk, went to the rescue with his brochure of products that would best cater to their needs. Concluding his thorough home inspection, he suggested 4 products; TripleSafe™ sump pump with battery backup, Time Machine data collector, IceGuard® antifreezing discharge line tip, new Heated Line, and more extensive PVC piping for maximum water flow. The homeowners were impressed with the amount of products we carry and were eager to start the process.

Our Installation Foreman, Dave Jackson, and crew went to the home to get the project started. Their approach was to install the products inside, such as the sump, battery, and time machine, and then make their way outside to replace the discharge line. The job went swimmingly! Dave walked the homeowner through the home explaining what was installed, the aftercare details, and when to get maintenance. He also had the opportunity to set up the application associated with the Time Machine, which tracks the data of the sump pump so the homeowners can keep a record of how it's working.

Water Seepage in Basement in Etobicoke, ON

Our customer in Etobicoke, Ontario, had an issue with the previously-built rear addition before they owned the home. Water had started seeping in through the walls and concrete floor which was damaging materials used to finish their basement and affecting personal items. They were concerned that mould might begin to grow behind the finished walls.

After our customer spoke with Claude Mathieu, System Design Specialist, they agreed on a waterproofing solution plan. They started by removing the entire concrete floor to release the water pressure underneath. Jose, Lucio, Ali, and the crew installed:

SuperSump® Sump Pump System

WaterGuard® Drainage System

ThermalDry® Wall Membrane

IceGuard® Drainage Pipe

IceGuardĀ® installed in Etobicoke, ON

One Etobicoke, ON homeowner, was concerned with their unprotected current sump system. In the event of pump failure, power loss, or clogged and frozen discharge pipes their home would become flooded. This concerned the homeowner, as a result, could be a considerable amount of damages resulting in costly repairs and replacement.

Ron Monk, System Design Specialist, evaluated the condition of their home and provided a waterproofing solution. Ali Fereidouni, Foreman, and his team installed:

 UltraSump® Battery Back-Up system

Zoeller® M53 Primary Pump

CleanPump Stand

IceGuard® Discharge line

The IceGuard® Discharge Line protects the discharge line in the event of frozen or clogged pipes. If the pipes become clogged or frozen, some slots face away from the home that allows water to flow out freely.
