Water Seepage Ruins Finished Basement in Oshawa, Ontario

Watching your hard work go to waste is a hard situation to deal with. You put your time, effort and money into something, and circumstances out of your control come and take it away. It’s frustrating, but luckily, there’s usually something you can do to prevent it from happening again.

A family from Oshawa, Ontario, reached out to Clarke Basement Systems after discovering water in their basement. The space was finished, but water had damaged the floor and lower sections of the walls beyond repair. They were ready to refinish the basement but didn’t want their money to go to waste.

 System Design Specialist Chris Luke travelled to their home and inspected the house. He found where the water was coming in and designed a unique system for the homeowners.

Foreman Dave Jackson and his crew, Installation Specialists Bryan Richards and Alan Murphy, worked hard installing the system. Since water was entering through the floor/wall joint, they installed our WaterGuard® Drain System around the perimeter. The walls were encapsulated with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane to prevent moisture seepage and insulate the space. Our system centres around the sump pump, so the customer chose our patented SuperSump® pump. Keeping their basement dry was the top priority before redoing their basement, which made it easy for the family to add an IceGuard® Discharge Line to prevent any backups from freezing.

The family is ecstatic that the basement is finally dry. They were concerned they’d be dealing with water forever, but are now looking forward to redoing the basement and gaining the space back.
