Everyone has their own version of “The List.” It could be a shortlist of small household duties or a long list of serious repairs.
A customer in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, would tell friends and family that his crawl space is “on the list.” It had been that way since he purchased the home, but the time had come for it to find its way off the list. The dirt floor allowed cold air and moisture up into the rest of the home, leading to an increase is HVAC bills.
The customer reached out to Clarke Basement Systems and met with System Design Specialist Rob Malcomson. Rob inspected the crawl space and recommended our Crawl Space Encapsulation System. The customer was looking forward to the repair and booked a date with our Production Department.
Foreman Lucio Flores and his crew, Installation Specialists Russel VanderMeulen and Dymytro Bohatyrov, started by removing insulation and debris. The pink wall insulation was so wet it was actually sagging from the ceiling. We replaced the insulating material with ThermalDry® Wall Membrane, sealing out moisture while providing an R20 insulation rating. Drainage Matting was used to prevent water from pooling, and we installed a SmartDrain® to guide water out of the crawl space. Lastly, the entire area was encapsulated with CleanSpace® Vapour Barrier, sealing out moisture and brightening the space.
The customer is thrilled to have a warmer, more efficient home. Heat no longer escapes through the crawl space, and he’s ready to move on to the next project on the list… someday.

As we grow older, our wants and needs inevitably change. We're over the whole homeownership thing and ready for something a little slower-paced with less maintenance.
In Buckhorn, Ontario, a retirement home manager reached out to Clarke Basement Systems after noticing the building's crawl space's humidity was excessive. He was concerned about the resident's health above, so after hearing about the solution System Design Specialist Ryan Hanlon recommended, he was eager to go ahead with the repair.
Foreman Lucio Flores and Installation Specialist Russell VanderMeullen started by encapsulating the floor and lower walls with CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier. A SmartSump® Pump was installed to remove water, and an Aprilaire® Dehumidifier was utilized to control the excess humidity levels.
The building manager can breathe a sigh of relief knowing his residents are safe and have a permanent solution.
