Clarke Basement Systems Case Studies: Failed Drain Caused Damage to Finished Basement, Aurora, ON
Challenge
A homeowner in Aurora, Ontario, had a full perimeter of sub-floor seepage of groundwater due to a failing footing drain (weeper). The scope of work was discussed with the customer for both interior and exterior work. The customer wanted to make sure the work that was being done would be permanent and allow them to re finish the basement with no worries of future water damage.
Solution
The customer called Clarke Basement Systems to assure them that with the interior repair, it is permanent, and the warranty dictates that the customer will never have groundwater seepage from the walls AND the floor, for the lifetime of the home. This is a fully transferable warranty for every subsequent homeowner. With any exterior repair, from any company, the warranty of 25 years dictates that the water will not come through the wall ONLY. It does not warrant against water coming up through the floor. The customer immediately agreed to the installation. One of our senior foremen, Dave Jackson, and his crew removed and disposed of the full perimeter of wall materials and installed a full perimeter of WaterGuard, wall membrane and a SumpPump with battery backup. This way, the whole basement could be kept dry permanently, ALL THE TIME.
The customer was very satisfied knowing that she could restore her basement and know that it will always be dry.
