Clarke Basement Systems Case Studies: Buried Discharge, Front Yard Pond
Challenge
To solve the existing pond in the front yard. This was caused from a previous installation of a discharge line for the sump pump that was too close to the house. The other problem was the freezing of the pond in the cold weather...
Solution
After a survey of the front yard it was determined that enough vertical drop and lawn space was available to install a buried discharge with a Heat line inside of it. This would discharge the water another 15 feet from the house to the front of the yard. Not close enough to the sidewalk to cause problems year round. The "smart" Ice sensitive heat line would keep the line clear year round, even in the meanest winter temperatures. The heat line is also energy efficient because it only melts ice when it senses ice is around it!
The project was executed with precision from the exit of the discharge line on the side of the house to the final LawnScape outlet.
Great care was taken to minimize damage to the existing lawn and property. A strategy was designed to dig and back-fill the lawn to leave hardly any trace of digging a trench. This is obvious in the photos.
The photos below were taken just a couple days after completion, there is hardly a trace of where the trench was dug in the yard!
