Cold Cellar in Need of Waterproofing in Cheltenham, ON

A home in Cheltenham, Ontario, had a problem located in the cold cellar of the house. Groundwater was seeping in at the floor/wall joint. The homeowner wanted to store items in this room safely without them getting wet and damaged.

The customer called Clarke Basement Systems and spoke to Ben Wallis who explained the solutions to their problem. Luke Havercourt and the team were able to complete the work in one day. They installed WaterGuard® sub-floor drainage system and ThermalDry® wall membrane. They were introduced to prevent groundwater from getting to the floor, by collecting any future water or moisture into the newly installed WaterGuard® around the perimeter.

The customer is satisfied because they will no longer have groundwater on the floor in the cold cellar, and can safely store personal items with peace of mind.

Efficient Basement Waterproofing in Brampton, ON

When a basement renovation began in Brampton, Ontario, the hired contractor discovered cracks in his foundation walls and recommended they fix them before finishing the basement. If not looked after, they can lead to further structural damage down the line. Decisively, they called Clarke Basement Systems to install a preventative system to protect their investment.

After installing our WaterGuard® and Delta Drainage Matting to prevent water seepage through the basement walls, the Installation Specialist Don Clarke and his team installed our SuperSump®, which performs exceptionally well to monitor and alert homeowners when water levels are too high. Next, our patented IceGuard® was provided on the exterior drain line of the home to ensure there would be an exit for water even when blockages or freezing occurs. Lastly, the team used a vinyl sloped ceiling in the cold room as it has protective properties for the ceiling slab and will redirect water to the Delta Drainage matting on the walls.

The homeowner was very impressed with our team’s close attention to detail and was amazed at their efficiency with all installments. In addition, we completed the job within his given timeframe, which allowed him to get back to finishing his basement in no time!

Wall Crack Repair Using FlexiSpan® in Brampton, Ontario

Moisture loves trying to find a way into our homes. A small crack or broken seal can be a gateway for moisture, leading to frustration and possible damage. Ontario homes are especially prone to this problem, often caused by the natural curing process of concrete. These cracks don’t usually threaten the foundation, but they can lead to water issues.

A Brampton, Ontario customer was dealing with this problem in his home. A small crack in the wall was leaking water into his basement, damaging the walls and floor. Frustrated and desperate to prevent any further damage from occurring, he reached out to Clarke Basement Systems.

Ron Monk, System Design Specialist, met with the customer to discuss a solution. Ron recommended a FlexiSpan® Crack Repair System to fix the problem, and job foreman Mark Dougherty installed the system.

FlexiSpan® is a warrantied, high-viscosity polyurethane polymer. It gets deep in the crack to form a durable seal, ensuring water stays out. A layer of foam is then placed overtop of the crack before being covered with a polyurethane sealant. It’s extremely flexible, giving it the ability to stay bonded even as concrete expands and contracts. The polymer stops 95% of previous moisture seepage, and any moisture that does get through is sent downward to a drain system.

After the FlexiSpan® system was installed the customer was happy that no further damage would occur, and they could finally put the walls back together. Their basement was clean and dry once again.

CleanSpace® Encapsulation for Crawl Space in Brampton, ON

System Design Specialist Ron Monk inspected a home after customers expressed their concerns about mould throughout their home. Due to the Stack Effect, mould was found in the upper levels of their homeThe Stack Effect happens when the crawl space air rises to the upper levels of a house. With that said, if the air is damp in the crawl space, there’s a high chance the rest of the home will be too, which is extremely unhealthy for anyone.

To control the moisture levels and dampness, Installation Foreman Dustin Biggs and his crew used our CleanSpace® Encapsulation System in the crawl space. This isolates the room from moisture in the ground. Within no time, the air quality throughout the home improved immensely! The happy homeowners could enjoy their home stress-free and not worry about mould in the future.
