Basement Waterproofing & Crawl Space Encapsulation in Peterborough, ON

Basement waterproofing system in Peterborough, ON

This SaniDry Dehumidifier will take up to 100 pints of water out of your basement's air every day.

The city of Peterborough lies in Central Ontario and is situated on the Otonabee River. Because of several climate and geographic factors, Peterborough is known to experience unpredictable weather and even flooding, with the most severe flooding recorded in 2004. Homeowners may not be able to change the weather, but they can try to prepare their homes for whatever comes their way – and Clarke Basement Systems is here to help!

In business since 2003, Clarke Basement Systems provides proven basement waterproofing services for homeowners in Peterborough and throughout Ontario. We are a Basement Systems, Inc. dealer with access to patented, warrantied basement products including sump pumps, drainage systems, dehumidifiers, and more. We are also trained to dry out crawl spaces using products specially designed for this smaller space, and we can fully encapsulate your crawl space with a moisture barrier for maximum water protection.

Not sure if you have a basement water problem? Look out for these common signs:

  • Wet or damp basement floor or standing water
  • Leaking or damp basement walls or windows
  • Crystalline deposits on concrete surfaces
  • Musty odors, condensation, and humidity
  • Sump pump issues

Ultimately, ignoring your basement or crawl space water problem will lead to mold, rot, and decay. You won't get any use out of the space, and your home's value is likely to decrease. To avoid these eventualities and maintain the comfort of your home, schedule a free estimate for basement waterproofing with Clarke Basement Systems!

Peterborough Foundation Repair & Concrete Repair

The soils around your home play a big part in the condition of your foundation. When soils dry out or get wet, they can shrink or expand, causing your foundation to shift. Furthermore, if the soils around your home are loose or weak, they won't be able to handle the weight of your foundation, leading to settlement. These are just some of the common ways that a foundation can become damaged.

Clarke Basement Systems specializes in foundation repair for Peterborough homeowners. No matter what is causing your foundation trouble, we have the experienced technicians you need for a permanent solution. If foundation settlement is the problem, we have a range of foundation pier systems that can transfer the weight of your home to load-bearing soil, stopping the settlement. We also offer other products like wall anchors and braces for bowing or collapsing walls and jacks for failing crawl space supports.

Worried about your home's foundation? Watch out for these signs of foundation problems:

  • Sagging floors and floor cracks
  • Wall cracks
  • Bowing walls
  • Sticking doors and windows
  • Tilting chimneys

In addition to our foundation repair services, we also offer unique solutions for concrete leveling and lifting, concrete crack repair, concrete sealing, and failing garage lintels. We install LintelLift to repair and provide support for sagging garage lintels that bear the weight above your garage door.

With PolyLevel® concrete lifting, we use an expanding polyurethane foam to bring a slab back to its original level position, and it is more lightweight and long-lasting than traditional mudjacking techniques. PolyLevel® can solve cracks and uneven slabs found in places like driveways, patios, and sidewalks.

To repair cracks in concrete pool decks, sidewalks, patios, or other structures, we use NexusPro. NexusPro is ultra-flexible, fixing concrete cracks and joints while resisting UV rays, extreme temperatures, weather fluctuations, and more.

For a finishing touch, our SealantPro concrete sealant assures your concrete looks good-as-new longer. This concrete sealing solution bonds with slabs on a molecular level to guard against oil, gasoline, liquid, and other debris to extend its life by 3 to 5 times overall.

Are you experiencing problems with your below-the-home spaces? Contact Clarke Basement Systems today to schedule a free estimate for basement waterproofing, foundation repair, or any of our other services! We serve customers in Peterborough and areas nearby.

Water Seepage Permanently Resolved in Peterborough, ON

Leigh R. of Peterborough, Ontario, had an issue with the back wall of his basement constantly flooding. Whenever it rained or during the spring thaw, water would enter through the floor wall joint and through his window well. Leigh wanted to have more liveable space in his home but didn’t want to renovate his basement until the water issue had been dealt with. After doing some research, Leigh determined that the best company for the job was Clarke Basement Systems.

Chris Luke, System Design Specialist, not only isolated where the water was coming in from but devised a plan that would permanently stop it from entering the basement. The lead foreman on the job, Jose Martinez, carefully studied Chris’ plan, and began to get to work. ThermalDry® Wall was installed along the walls of the basement. It catches and drains all the water into the WaterGuard® trench drain. It also improves comfort and energy efficiency by reflecting heat back into the basement space! All the water then funnels from the WaterGuard® system to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System to be pumped out and away from the home. Jose then installed a well duct system in the existing window well, so that water would NEVER be able to get through again.

Leigh and his family can now finish their basement knowing that it is permanently waterproofed. Clarke Basement Systems always loves helping solve customers’ water issues, and we’re happy to help Leigh add more liveable space to his home!

IceGuard and UltraSump Prevent Basement Flooding in Peterborough, ON

Patrick D. was looking to mitigate the flooding problem in his Peterborough, ON basement, so he began his search for a reputable contractor with the skills to fix his situation. He eventually found Clarke Basement Systems, who he contacted for an in-home inspection and estimate.

Cory Marchildon went to Patrick’s home to meet him and diagnose the problems Patrick was experiencing. After a thorough inspection, Cory decided that the best way to remediate the issue was to install the SuperSump and UltraSump sump pump systems, a waterproofing liner, and the IceGuard system to protect discharge lines from freezing. Primary Foreman Rob Trevisan managed the installation, and with the combination of the twin sump systems Patrick will never have to worry about flooding problems again.

Project Location: Peterborough, ON
Over the past few months we have had minor flooding/water seepage into our basement much more frequently than we have had in the past. The house is a 120 year old brick farmhouse on a stone foundation. There was a back addition put on the house about 30 years ago which has a crawl space. We would like advice on what may be causing the increased water seepage and a check as to whether there has been any damage to the foundation.

Heavy rain in the last few days, water came into the basement despite having a sump pump. We are in the middle of a basement reno and need to figure out the source before we continue. Thanks!
Project Location: Peterborough, ON
There is a crack in the foundation of the house that has been getting water to leak in. The basement is finished, so not 100% where the crack is, but there appears to be a couple cracks that have previously been patched based on what I can observe from the outside.
