Sump pump maintenance is essential, mainly when you are located in a city vulnerable to mineral ore buildup. What are we talking about? Depending on where you are located, minerals within the earth can find their way into your sump system, harden, and block the water flow. Unfortunately, preventing this from happening is impossible, but routine maintenance is essential to keep up with your sump's health. Our Service Technician, Ali Fereidouni, stopped by this home in Mount Albert, ON, to check the status of this home's double sump system. One SmartSump® was in the laundry room, and the other SuperSump® was in the furnace room on the opposite side of the house. Ali started with the Laundry room, where he noticed an excessive amount of calcium and mineral build-up leached onto every component of the sump system. Ali had access to the laundry room sink, where he safely deconstructed the pump and went to work, cleaning every crevasse and unclogging the pipes. Once all was set and done, he poured hot water in the sump lining and scrubbed more orangey gunk off, giving it its original white colour back. Then it was time to reassemble and jot on the sump system when his next appointment would be next year.
Time to move to the bigger unit in the furnace room. Navigating through the tight space, Ali managed to open the sump and take a look. Surprisingly enough, there was a discolouration in the water but no calcium or minerals in the lining. Quite a fascinating site to know that one side of the home is undergoing a problem and the other is unaffected. With a speedy clean-up, smiles, and handshakes, Ali was off to his next service.
